Strikes to go ahead

            A question to teachers then.
If you're going to the effort of striking, then at least strike for a number of weeks during exam season. This has more chance of bullying the government into changing their plans.
This is what would wind up the public.Anything else is a bit, well, ineffective isn't it?
Then what is all the fuss about? What is the point of a short disruption? It will just wind up the public and give the DM ammunition to spin out all those old cliches about teachers.
To minimise the disruption to the education of the children. It has not wound up the public, it has wound up the tories, some daily mail readers and a number of the usual frothers on the usual internet fora; these groups not necessarily mutually exclusive. I have spoken to a lot of locals and parents and they are by far and away supportive of the action. There are a few complainers that they have to take a day of work or they have to find "alternative childcare" but if you consider education to be workforce childcare then you are part of the problem and I'm happy that you are inconvenienced.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. One thing that is truly funny about all this is the peculiar political rhetoric. Accusing teachers of abandoning children? Informing the children's parents in advance that they will be responsible for looking after their own offspring for a day is hardly abandonment. It may be inconvenient to some parents to whom the responsibility for looking after their own children defaults by definition, but no teacher will abandon a child.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. It has not wound up the public,
My child is not at school yet, but it would wind me up should I need to find child care for one day when they are usually at school.
So I should imagine it has wound up/ inconvenienced / made financially worse off a number of parents?
You would be fairly blind to see that it does not wind up a fair amount of the public with children who work work for a living (the parents not the children )? )?
People do value the work teachers do but also accept things have to change and many are a lot financially worse off already. The private sector has been and continues to be hammered.0

What I would like to see is a proper discussion about how our education system can be better, because there's a lot wrong with it. There is a lot wrong with the nature of our curriculum, there is a lot wrong with the way it is delivered and there is a lot wrong with the way we measure ability and attainment. We have a system that defines talent in narrow terms and altogether fails to recognise different types of intelligence and talent. When an A is the new fail and only an A*#/#**# will do then we have reached the point of incredibility.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Has it been mentioned?
A quick search of the thread seems to hint it has not been.
Did I say that it had been mention in this thread? A quick search of the thread seems to hint that I didn't. In fact the term rhetoric, for me at least, seems to imply that I was referring to our politicians and in fact one tory politician made the abandonment accusation this morning. Forgive me for not being more explicit for you; obviously you don't recognise hints. But I have identified your learning needs and I'll try not to make the same mistake twice.
Edit: If you are going to embroil yourself in a debate about an aspect of current affairs then you might keep up to date with them.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Not true - you can go and work in a fee paying school as a teacher.0

Then you think that school is there to look after you kids while you go to work. You have the education system you deserve. I suggest that you might be wound up already due to one of the other reasons that I mentioned.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. You are a idiot arn't you. I never said that the school should look after my child but is fairly obvious child care is based around school. Thus an day off inside school time requires some amount of care or financial burden to the parent. That is caused by the action, so why would it not frustrate some, is it their fault?
To counter your argument though I presume you think parents should not send children to school as they are ultimate responsible for everything, including education.
Tell me when you have some reason and logic and we can carry on the debate rather that this futile OTT reactions to rational points.0

 oh dear, oh dear.
Did you need to change your post after to say "political" to make the above post, it is still clear what I quoted.
Just admit you made a point that was wrong or miss worded instead of having ago, your mistake not mine.
I just pointed out it was not mentioned on the thread, you then felt the need to change it and then try to make out I am not up to date on a point you never made!!!!
I think there may be a fair amount of political rhetoric on the thread now though.0
