Tesco home delivery is rubbish

They do.
Whenever I go there there are people pushing around big carriers doing the picking.
This is why Tesco made on line shopping work after others had failed. The others invested in vast new warehouses and could never make the service pay. Tesco realised that they could use their current stores as warehouses and it really took off.
Yes, I noticed that. However, I saw the odd member of staff picking the items, and then throwing them into the trays on the trolley. God help if their were any fragiles.0 -
I asked the same question a while ago and they explained that the website can only hold a certain amount of products as to many will slow it down..
I thought how odd, but apparently other companies do the same for the same reasons (I asked them).. However, after requesting the products I wanted they were on the website within a couple of weeks.. Perhaps you could do the same :-)
I asked. They wouldn't do so.0 -
I have had exactly the same problem with dog food which I have been buying for yonks and the stores still stock (including the one my order comes from) I had a very unhelpful reply from customer services who said that they were clearing out goods which didn't sell from their website - I think they probably have a major IT problem...
The lady on the phone that I spoke to said that she would report the problem to the IT department, but she sounded half hearted about it.0 -

It doesn't really have anything to do with the IT department. They just build the systems. It's up to the business to decide which items they want to sell via the website!0 -

The problems people have with online shopping - god knows why they bother. You however, have mentioned you have health problems so no doubt it's easier to shop online. Try somewhere decent like Sainsbury's or Ocado/Waitrose. I should imagine problems still occur but they don't seem to with quite the same regularity as Tesco and Asda (judging by these forums).
yes that is how internet shoppign is done, the pickers pick from the shelving as other customers do,0 -

Various frozen goods, stuff like ketchup and bbq sauces, some baking ready mixes. These are all items that are always in the store. Items that I've never seen out of stock. The bags of chips for one. The freezer is usually half full of them.
I had to order more expensive alternatives. The only bags of chips they had on their website was McCains. They did have packs of choc-chip muffin mixes, but that was it.
i take you have tried searching for ketchup, bbq sauces, chips then filter by area as i can see chips by tesco and tesco own products0 -
sainsburys are the same. if i order from my favorites, half the things i have already bought before and they still sell in the actual store show as unavailable. I think they only show a certain number of items as it would be hard work trawling through every single product they sell and would slow the site down:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0

Tried Sainsbury's for the first time this week and had 6 subs (one being a 4 pack of cheesecake expiring on that day and not highlighted), a 2.5kg bag of potatoes expiring on that day and the majority of perishables with dates in the next 2 to 3 days. No pricematch either.
Back to Tesco I go as I rarely get more than 2 subs (pricematched if dearer) and the dates are normally excellent.
I found Ocado quality excellent but a bit on the expensive side and I haven't tried Asda yet.0 -

Last weekend when I ordered my groceries, I noticed that a third of the items that I always get, were not on their website. These are Tesco own brand items as well.
Various frozen goods, stuff like ketchup and bbq sauces, some baking ready mixes. These are all items that are always in the store. Items that I've never seen out of stock. The bags of chips for one. The freezer is usually half full of them.

I asked the delivery driver which store he was delivering from, and it was the store that I use to go into for my shopping.
So, I rang up Tesco customer services to enquire about this and was told that if the items were not on the website, then they were out of stock. This is untrue, as my parents go to the same store and they told me that the items that I usually get were in stock. In fact, the shelves were brimming with the items.
So not only did I have to order more expensive alternatives, but I had to pay £5 delivery. On Wednesday's it's £3.50, every other day it's £5 and £6 with the odd £4.50.
Has anyone else had this sort of problem ordering their groceries through Tesco online?
Either way, I'm going to try ASDA delivery. If they don't provide to my needs, then it's back to going into Tesco store and causing them problems through my health.
Not had the problem - I type in exactly what I want, order it and then it's saved to favourites, so I can re-order any time. If an item is out of stock, it says it on the website as 'unavailable', so I don't know what customer services were on about.
I have always found Tesco the best of the bunch, as ASDA delivery is ok, but so much of their stuff, particularly any meat, fruit or veg, is a bit too cheap and nasty, and some tinned/jar stuff is a bit ropey unless it's a brand name.
Sainburys and Waitrose are ok, good delivery service, but more expensive than Tesco.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0
