... Love it
.... the first self claimed 'accountant' I've ever come across who prefers to use words instead of numbers ....
When I costed out our system I was completely aware of what energy we consumed and what the savings were likely to be ... anyway, to me if the savings due to self generation are taken as being a typical ~£100, then 37% and 50% savings would establish that initial electricity costs would be around £300 and £200 respectively .... however, a typical user consuming 3300kWh/year (Ofgem - http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/Media/FactSheets/Documents1/domestic%20energy%20consump%20fig%20FS.pdf ) would be spending around £400/year, therefore the £100 would represent a more realistic 25% to the average UK household ... of course, there are households which would use more electricity than the average, and there are others which use less, just as there are households with pv arrays which can make more or less use of their own generation - however on average the saving would be 25%, and this would be seen as being correct by any accountant, which would naturally lead anyone with any form of accounting qualification to question any other figure ... I worked with accountants for decades ...
I like numbers ... they make so much sense ....

I didn't really expect you to provide any figures to illustrate how you think that you can save between 37% and 50% because it's obvious from your posts that you have a lot to learn about this subject.
Why are you so afraid to post your figures, you simon hornby are just a faceless internet nobody yourself.
Needless to say, if the system cost me nothing and I can use its' full output free of charge - by definition I will make a saving. - I can't believe I've had to explain this!!!
You have explained nothing! Simply tell us how you can use the full output produced by the panels then?
However I will say this, I live with my family in the most common type of house in the country - a 3 bed semi.
Irrelevant really, apart from the fact that your roof size limits the generating capacity of a solar PV installation.
Provarication costs money - every daylight hour not used to produce solar generated electricity is money thrown down the drain.
Quoting the salesman again. The RaR company will benefit far more than you possibly can! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
i got mine done with ashadadegreener last may.
from the very first enquiry it was a very good experience, with great comunication. the installation went realy well and the guys were a credit to the company, polite, happy, friendly, and above all a real laugh. my sister was so impressed with how it went , that she now is having it done too.
we are saving approx 50% on our elecy bill too ( so must be a good thing ) to make the most of the panels we do all our washing, drying, etc etc in the daylight hours. we have an electric cooker so we now have our main meal before it gets dark, so we dont use the elecy after that,,, apart from the tv. my hobby is woodwork so i use a lt of power tools too. and that saves us a fortune too by doing it during the day.
would i recommend ashadegeener,, DAMN RIGHT I WOULD. and have done too.:T:T 10/10 colin gregg, barnsley, south yorks.
I find it awful strange when a Newie joins the site shouting how pleased he is with the quality of work and service of a company, then you never hear from him again.
Or am i just suspicious ?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Average useage for a 3 bed house is Appox 5000kwh per annun - this will cost in excess of £850. So how someone is getting away with a bill of £400 is a mystery to me.
Faceles internet persona eh!! yet another "expert" how will probably never make a correct decision as provarication costs money.
Yes I am enthuisatic about the system I chose because - like for thousands of others - it is a GOOD and SENSIBLE choice.
Why are there so many people, on a money saving site, so keen to pay too much??
Just get off the fence and do something - if you buy your own and it costs you money - tough, you've been warned. If you lease and are in the same house in 25 years time you feel you would have made more money by buying, don't whinge and be happy your electricity bills have bee reduced for the last quarter of a century.0 -

Some figures from the wordsmith at last, however you are obviously living on a different planet to the rest of us moneysavers!
37% of £850 = £314.50
50% of £850 = £425.00
Do you really expect to save between £314 and £425 per annum because of your 3.5kW solar PV installation?
Dream on - there is only one no brainer posting here! Post the numbers, we can understand those.

.
Well 'the Accountant' has given 2 figures - both wrong!
The UK Average consumption is 3,300kWh a year.
Secondly '5000kWh will cost in excess of £850' - will it indeed?
For my area(Midlands) for 5,000kWh the cheapest electricity alone tariff is £569 and the most expensive of the big six is £748 and there are about 60 tariffs in that range.
Even cheaper if you have gas and get the Dual Fuel discount.0 -
I took the useage figures from my supplier SSE They ain't wrong sunshine!!
If you lot want to go on paying more than you have to more fool you. Remeber a saving of £0.01p (from the overall cost of the project) is still a saving.
Why am I advocating ASG? Because I am more than happy with the deal.
If I was pointing they way to a discount code for 10p off a bag of frozen peas you lot may be ecstatic about it!! But that is conceptually much easier to get you head around compared to the Net Present Value of a project.
BTW the Energy Saving Trust numbers bear no resemblence to my actual real world situation. So be careful what you treat as being kosher without actual testing it properly for yourself.0 -

I believe that the majority of people posting agree that SSE 'ain't wrong', they are simply questioning the logic, data and resultant calculations which you are applying ....
source ... SSE (http://www.sse.co.uk/GasAndElectricity/Betterplan/) - " ... based on SSE average dual fuel .... Based on domestic consumption of 3,300 kWh electricity p.a. and 16,500 kWh gas p.a." ... confirms that they actually do use the Ofgem figures referenced earlier ....
I believe that it is likely that you have misunderstood what the 5000kWh/year average usage of electricity you have picked up and mention relates to, so I'll attempt to help .... The Ofgem document referenced earlier states ... "For households on a time of use tariff, such as Economy 7,the typical medium consumption figure for electricity is 5,000 kWh" (http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/Media/FactSheets/Documents1/domestic%20energy%20consump%20fig%20FS.pdf) .... note that this is for users with E7, which would suggest that a significant proportion of the higher usage would be at night, possibly not the best time to expect pv to be providing a significant contribution ....
I really do agree with you excellent earlier point .... "As someone who deals with accounts it is imperative that I stay squeaky clean and not fabricate false information" .... as in my experience accountants are very meticulous at checking, and double checking, before conveying or publishing information ....

I agree, entering 5000kWh/year into our energy model, without accounting for pv, churns out an annual estimated electricity bill of just over £571, including VAT and discounts ....

Strange you should say that. Was thinking something similar myself... :cool:0
