I have just recieved a ticket for parking at mcdonalds whilst visiting a client with mental health problems, this was an appointment to ensure the client was eating and going out in the community !!!!!
we were there for 140 mins and apparently the limit is 90mins ??? during this time i made several purchases so i feel it unfair. should i ignore this letter from MET Parking

Look at the stickies at the top.

From what I have gathered, anything not issued by the police or a council is unenforceable as it is private land and not a criminal offence. So there is nothing they can do about it.0

Welcome Simon. Don't make the mistake of thinking that a PPC has a genuine appeals procedure, which is why the advice is to totally ignore any and all letters relating to this charge. Only respond if you have a genuine court summons (which is unlikely), you can then use your mitigating circumstances as a part of your defence. Don't waste them on the PPC.
The MET Parking/McDonalds partnership has been going on for over two years and generated a lot of adverse comment on internet forums.
People in the same position as you who have ignored all correspondence have found they eventually go away. You do however need nerves of steel towards the end.0 -

They can sue for a debt in the civil courts, but would have to have an extraordinary detailed evidence to win, which is why they rarely do court.0 -
How rude. Maybe you should look at something yourself - the notice alerting us that the op is a newbie. He/she could be directed to the stickies in a much more mannerly way.
I don't think the first answer was rude, the IGNORE was just made very clear! How about:
'Please read the stickies at the top:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
Ignore the fake PCN.'
P.S. And if you follow that link it takes you to the whole parking board which is where all newbies start when posting, surely? If newbies just read the blindingly obvious 'WELCOME, please read before posting' and 'Parking Co. letters, what to expect' they would know the score about this scam. Have you seen how common this question is, the whole first page of this forum is always full of new threads, all the same, every single day. The regulars here are just bored of fielding the same questions evey single day which are already covered in full in the sticky threads - it's like Groundhog Day!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Didn't I say 'Please read...'?
How remiss of me.
The IGNORE in big letters was the advice. I don't think even a newbie wants a 300 word essay on why.
My answer was succinct and to the point. I don't do 'fluffy' words to make somebody feel good, I just state the adviceThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Ah, the 'ignore' meant 'ignore the fine'. Duh, I'm a bit stupid, I thought you meant for forum users to ignore the post!!! Sorry to call you rude when actually you were being helpful.0
