Thanks. Glad I'm not alone.
They have really messed this one up haven't they?!!!0 -
If you get the giftcard pretty soon then it is a great deal - and you bother going to pick the paper up.
However the Mail website is completely free online, like the Guardian.
Whatever you think of those particular papers - I don't care - I get my news for free from both and take both with a large pinch of salt.
I certainly wouldn't want to pay to read The Sun, Times or News of the Screws - as you now have to.
I think I come to a middle of the road viewpoint reading a heavily right and left paper - both for free - online!!0 -
Yes - I've had the same DD set up on my bank account:

So it looks like they have sent out a blanket cancellation letter, but set up all the Direct Debits!
I have emailed and got the standard 'we will reply soon' so its wait and see. Will update if I hear back anytime soonxx

Got a snooty reply today:Unfortunately the Daily Mail is by invitation only. Due to this we have had to cancel this subscription.
Please accept my apologies that you were not informed earlier in the order process of this.
I can confirm no payment will be taken from your account. I would advise deleting this Direct Debit from your account.
So looks like the DD's may run unless we cancel them. xx0 -
Spoken to Daily Mail (A&N Media) helpdesk.
They don't work at weekends and came in on the Monday to find that the 'invitation only' code had 'gone viral' and they had many 100s of orders.
They cancelled them all but the setting up of DDs was automatic.
I laid it on a bit thick and said I was disappointed as I want to try the Mail during the week and bought it at weekends only at the moment. Also said that my Will & Kate mug arrived the same day as their letter. And I was enjoying the Rewards voucher scheme. And I had a Nectar card, so didn't understand why I hadn't been sent an invitation anyway.
The CS person (George) apologised and said that he would send me two weeks of money-off vouchers for the Mail, so something I suppose.¿Alguien ha visto a mi nave espacial?

If its the same 'George' that I spoke to he told me he's a Deputy Manager. Apparently they had a big meeting about it last week to decide how to handle the problem - but they clearly weren't going to let us have the deal. I got 1 weeks free papers and 3 weeks half price in the form of a voucher book as a 'sweetener'. Nectar didn't want to know when I complained to them.ELITE 5:2

Last Summer I worked in a call centre for three weeks trying to sign people up for this deal. The names of people that were on the call list were there because they had,at some point or another, bought something that was advertised in a magazine that came with the Daily Mail. The voucher then was a £50 M&S one.
It was a really good deal for those that bought the Daily Mail anyway but we were only allowed to offer the deal if they were buying the papers four days a week or less. Anything over four days and we had to thank them for being loyal readers and 'reward' them with a money saving booklet as if that was the reason we'd called in the first place :rotfl:
The voucher got sent out straight away then and so it would have been possible to cancel after the first month although we were not allowed to say this even if asked.0
