Czech lager every time for me. A lot of it's brewed from spring water and tastes really fresh and crisp.

I might stretch to Becks though if pushed.
  • I've been going to the Munich Oktoberfest for the last few years, and have become increasingly annoyed at the pap they brew here.

I try to stick to export largers now, but if you read the small print even they are partly brewed over here. I thought Holsten Export might be decent which I bought recently and it tasted like battery acid. (yes I have tried battery acid, did you ever drink Thunderbird when you was younger?)

Heineken is one of the only mass market beers over here, that seems to have turned itself around. It has loads more flavour since being brewed abroad and going back to its roots.

Discover real ale! It's our national drink and not a poor interpretation of a lager import.

None of your pasteurised lager rubbish that mostly tastes the same with real ale. Almost every real ale tastes different from each other and has loads more character. Find one you like and you'll be converted.

London Pride's a good one. It's available on draught in lots of pubs and also from supermarkets in bottles and cans.

So I'll just to have to accept that nice beer costs a bit more; If they had a deal on Starpramen, Bitteburger, Pilsner Urquel or Peroni I'd be down there with a trailer.
You forgot to mention BECKS (my favourite) and Original Grolsch. Lovely lager beers.!! Any really good deals on these I would love to know about.

Well I've mentioned Becks. In fact i've just got 20 bottles of Becks from Sainsburys for £10.99 - which seems a good deal.

Wow, that is a good deal. Perhaps a little more then I need though. I got a pack of 20 last christmas and i've still got a few left.
  • You've all missed THE deal of this Christmas - 24 bottles of Kronenbourg Blanc 300ml for £9.79 at Netto... sells for £3.99 for 4 at Tesco, and that's on special offer

Looking forward to 5pm - not allowed alcohol in our house until then...

Do you live in either a monastery, convent or military base?

I like real ale and lager. Real ale doesn't have a superiority over good lager; they're both really enjoyable if they have the "ooooohhh" factor.

Sadly, about 80% of what pubs serve and call "real ale" is ditchwater.

London Pride is one of the best bottled beers around IMO. I might go and buy some now.
    Happy chappy
