When I applied for the pack to come to me via the post it had a reference number on it. I use that if I'm ever asked for it.

HSBC are phoning tonight, they are the next biggest creditor with nearly 24%.

They are also the most complicated, because of the Joint account and we are trying to protect mum's credit rating as it's pretty good at the moment and is allowing me to tart her debt. I'm thinking it might be worth putting that debt onto one of her CCs to clear.

They also hold my Dad's primary current account and the mortgage.

    HSBC have accepted too

So only one of the smaller creditors need to say yes now.

My work is done, handing off to them now :)

Thanks to everyone who's helped along the way

Sideline note: Father has apologised a lot and said he will take over once all is confirmed but is a bit stuck on this stage so could I ask you lovely people for advice.

Halifax have sent a letter which looks pretty standard saying contact Payplan or CCCS and they will arrange a payment - what do I do with them?

And Capital One have lowered the limit to 13.9% and sent a new card out - weird move, again, what to do?

Hi Gem how are you today? I'm glad for you that you're Dad is getting more involved.

If my memory serves correctly, you're doing a diy DMP using advice from the National Debtline. If this is the case, just write back to them to explain that giving your ND reference number. I've just checked my booklet from ND and HSBC support the Money Advice Trust who run the ND so they should accept this.

I've not got any debts with HSBC or their affiliates but I understand that they're one of the more difficult companies to deal with.

With regard to the credit card. Have you not included this in the DMP? If you have and you've written to request that they accept a reduced payment you should thank them for reducing the interest, but explain that you need all the charges stopped if you are to pay the debt back.

If you're not including them in the DMP, I'd cut the card up and accept the reduced interest rate.

You've been really lucky. We sent our letters out at around the same time, but I've only heard from one company. I'm sure the calls will start soon.
