Drowning with Dolphins

So it's been a while and I thought I'd post an update. We struggled to get anywhere with Barclaycard, appalling service - refusing to talk to us in any meaninful way, telling us to fill in forms that they dragged their heels over sending out, and were then incorrect when they did. The other half is looking to bin them as her credit card provider on the back of it, as we don't exactly get a warm cuddly customer focused feeling from them.
Having said that, the administrators (Deloittes) have already been more communicative than Dolphin (after they'd made the 'sale' anyway). As it stands we're now being told that they're arranging fitters to come in and complete the installation to spec, the fitters will provide guarantees for any work that they do, etc.
We're hopeful at this stage that several months down the line we might actually have a functioning bathroom again by the autumn.
We ummed and arred for a wile over whether to get people in to carry on the install work, but we really wanted to get some kind of signal from someone that it wouldn't be good money after bad if we had done so. As we didn't get that, we were stuck in limbo, but perhaps the administrators are going to come good here and our job at least might end well.
Thanks to those who posted constructive advice and support.0 -
Good update, thanks :-)0

Me again. The saga continues, sort of.....
Sure enough, as previously posted, Deloittes did indeed arrange for a fitting company to come round to our place and finish the installation of the bathroom. It took them about a week or so.
We had some snags that we wanted resolving (nothing serious) so the fitter came back again the following week and sorted those bits out.
Some time has now passed, and we're getting into the territory of needing to put the Central Heating on. It appears that the bathroom radiator isn't working (first time we've needed to try it) so we called the installer again who is now saying that he will have to charge us to come back out.
Confused as we were, the missus called Deloittes as in theory the fitting done by the second lot of installers should be guaranteed. Only for Deloittes to now say that the information they provided before was incorrect and there are no guarantees for anything.
So we're not happy, the fitters have come back out free of charge before, so how come it was OK to do it then but not now? And one of the main things we checked with Deloittes when they completed the fit was that the work done by those fitters would be guaranteed. We were told at the time that it would be. Now it appears not. So surely it would have been preferable knowing that to get a full refund for the bathroom and got someone else to do it who would have guaranteed the work? Feels like we've been stiffed 'again'.
Should I be talking to the Financial Ombudsman or what?? :mad:0 -
It may be a good idea to establish who you have a contract with; DeLoittes, Dolphin or the fitters. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

I would say the contract was with Dolphin, as DeLoittes did was as administrators approve for fitters to complete already started work by Dolphin. the fitters came back to sort out initial snags.
The fitter who fitted the radiator should of carried out a bleed test and tested the radiator fopr leaks and to make sure it heated up.0 -
The easy answer is "or what"
One radiator not working sounds more like the pin in the valve sticking or the lockshield valve isn't open both easy to fix as DIY or 5 mins for a plumber. Assuming radiator is completely cold not partially warm, if that it prob just needs bleeding.
I suggest that as the easiest option as the Financial Ombudsman has no power over the liquidators. You would need to go to court."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Was it working when the fitters left your house ? If it was then you'll need to sort it out yourself. Was it not tested at the time ?0

It's not so much the radiator that's the problem, that's an annoyance for sure given that I'm not aware it was ever tested before they left and we haven't needed it until now. Feels like it isn't a guarantee thing so much as a 'please come back and finish the job you started' thing.
The main problem is the fact that the administrators are now saying we have no guarantees for any of the work, even that done by their fitters. This is contrary to what we were told originally - when they said that the work done by the second lot would be guaranteed, just not anything done by the first lot back in the Dolphin days.
Now it appears we have nothing for anything. So we're not getting the end service that we paid for with the bathroom. So how do I tackle that?0 -

Any guarantee would of been with Dolphin and not the administrators, as stated earlier all the administrators did was to get some fitters to complete the half finished job. if the items had been delivered and the fitting not started then they would not have got any fitters to finish the fitting as it had not started, so then you would have had to arrange this yourself. So we're not getting the end service that we paid for with the bathroom.
bleed the radiator and see if this works if not just call a local plumber, as if its just 1 radiator it will be something simple.0
