All the cars that went through the red light camera will get 3 points and a fine.
They dont do excuses and until they do, stay put.

Do you have proof of this?

While I'll try to let emergency vehicles through, particularly ambulances, risking accident and fines to let a police car on the way to who knows what, does not seem prudent to me.
What makes you think that an Ambulance on a call, or a Fire Engine on a call is going to anything more serious than a Police Car? Fire service attend a lot of false fire alarms, and Ambulances also end up being called upon for false alarms. Truth is, nobody, not even the emergency services themselves, often know what they're attending until they arrive on scene.

In Colchester we have 1 (and ony 1) traffic light camera (on Cowdray Avenue at the junction with Mason Road), all the emergency services crews know that if the lights are red, then they are not to force vehicles to jump the lights, but to wait until they are green. If on a 'Red 1' call, they have the option of going around the traffic on the opposite side of the road then cutting-back across to the near-side at the junction.

@thelawnet - If you feel that the actions of the driver of the police vehicle were unsafe make a complaint.

probably best to make them comply with the road traffic act and miss whatever emergency they were rushing to attend

I take it since you think you know everything, that you are aware that Emergency Vehciles can claim exemptions to the Road Traffic Act?

Actually you don't need to answer it is obvious you nothing about this subject

You do realise that wether the computer triage says it is a Red 1 or a Red 3 the crews will respond to the call not what a computer says is the level.of severity.

The computer can't make a crew claim an exemption the crew claim it if they feel.it is beneficial to the patient, or more accurately if by claiming an exemption it is in the patients interest. In the case of an RTC with entrapment it is in the patients best interest to get there quickly but the computer will grade that as Amber 1 most of the timme, an 18yr old crying after her boyfriend dumped her for example will be Red1 as she "isn't breathing normally".

The reason the crews don't push vehicles through that red light is because the calls are probably rubbish and the crew onky has the lights on to appease bulling managers, when you see them go down the wrong side and in an obvious hurry they are either new in the job or the call is that very rare thing these days called a genuine emergency.

Prior to the control romm knowing when your lights were swithed on cres simple didn't use lights to go to crap, management are only interested in targets not patients. Hence why management feel the need to spy on crews.

I personally don't see the need to push drivers through a red light, much safer to go head on with oncoming traffic, as they can move to their left easily.

Not according to the magistrates in Yorkshire, or the Dept for Transport or the emergency services themselves... not to mention the highway code! See my post above.
A Department of Transport spokesman said: "The Highway Code states that a vehicle should get out of the way of emergency vehicles but not in a way that would endanger other road users. Passing through a red light is illegal.
