Bathroom tile design

I'm struggling to choose bathroom tiles!!! We have a blank canvas, new roll top Bath to be fitted and separate shower cubicle...also to be tiled.
I would really like something travertine style...but we have a velux window fitted and ceiling now slopes, my problem is do I tile all of Walls, or half way with a border tile...it's only a small room so do I do floor in same tiles as Walls??
I have read numerous magazines, searched online for images and trawled the tile shops, taken samples but still not sure what will look ok...
I will try and upload a pic tomorrow."
Ay ideas??

Travertine is good on the floor. Check out my bathroom thread.

Your bathroom can't be that small if you have a bath and a separate shower.

    Believe me, its is small...2.4m x 1.6m with a seperate shower "cupboard" 1m x 1m

My problem is, once i decide on a tile design...do i tile up to top of wall at bottom of velux wiindow level, or go right up to top of shaped ceiling at roof level...or possibly even just halfway up wall to dado height

Diable...if you have travertine on the floor...what do you put on the walls to co ordinate?

Hmmm I see what you mean its an awkward shape, personally I would the lot as its maintenance free and easy to clean but you can only judge that as you can see the room.

I used large tiles on the floor and rectangular ones on the walls but my bathroom was roughly 3x3x3 so a large box and I could get away with it.

Real trav is lovely and has a warm 'air' about it. you'll never lose the quality feel it brings.
These days there are some really good trav effects in porcelain and this wont need sealing. They can usually be used on the floor too but be careful if you choose a high gloss finish as these get slippy.

We have some really nice trav effects being loaded this week and a new tile called applestone which is a bit lighter than trav. should be loaded by tuesday. in the mean time check out canyon caliza which is a very popular trav 'a like'.

I'd advise going up to the peak of the roof - for the little extra cost the room will look more finished.

You can get a good effect by laying them length ways and staggering the joints. staggering the joints enhances the a natural stone effect - as in the pictures in the other thread (nice job BTW). If you want to add some colour then a mosaic\glass border can be a cost effective way of doing so - vertical feature borders are very fashionable.

Without too much shameless self promotion we have lots of room pictures of our tiles on our site - even if you dont order from us they can be useful to give you ideas. you can find the link on my profile.

If you want any more help - feel free to ask.

    Fixed your link.

If your shower is in the same room then I'd tile the sloping ceiling as well. If its separate then just the vertical bits.

If you have rolltop bath and its freestanding you'll be tiling underneath as well.

Its not the material that matters so much - travertine is fine for bathrooms as is natural stone or porcelain or standard ceramics - its the physical and colour balance. You'll not have that much floorsace to tile so 10x10s on the walls and 600x600s on the floor will look out of kilter. I'd suggest max 25x25 or 20x30 on the walls and max 40x40 on the floor but it does depend on the layout of the room. Can your tiler not advise you?

Your best bet is to get yourself down to a tileshop (not necessarily TT) and see whats available and what you fancy. Most indy's will let you take samples home (against a small deposit) so you can have a look.

    Cheers

Good advice but this flies perilously close to the spam boundary IMHO.

If the bathroom is narrow then square floor tiles can be placed at a diagonal to make it more appealing to the eye.
