I will not stop until i get my money back. I will definately be closing my account with natwest as soon as the matter is sorted. I have been treated terrible people have been rude an unhelpful. Today i was directed to 5 different people an the last person was still not what i wanted. How can it be allowed that cash can been drawn for an atm with out proper identification. Thanks any advice is welcome x

You'll be waiting a very long time then, and are they unhelpful because you haven't got what you wanted? YOU gave out your details, which is not covered as fraud in the banks terms and conditions. Why should they lose money due to people's stupidity in giving out personal information?

Hi there, I have experienced the same problem but have been refused the refund. Unfortunately i was daft enough to respond to what i have been told is a fishing email, where they took only a few online banking details. I responded to this mid week last week, i saw a notification in my emails saying my online banking had been stopped, panic stricken as i was due to be paid friday for some promo work. Desperately needed as unemployed at the moment. So i started to respond the email was an exact replica to natwest online facilities however it started to ask for account details so i x off it thinking it was a bit strange. If only i had reported it then. On saturday i went to the petrol station an my card was refused, how mortifying - 8 people in a que behind me. I had to park my car up an walk to the tesco across the way. The cash point then swallowed my card, i have an old phone an did not have a contact telephone for natwest so i rang a number on the back of my credit card which told me they were closed. I then had to call my mum to lend some cash. I then was driving to the midlands to see my bf and i rang my mum hands free of course lol still highly embarrassed from the petrol situation i was discussong it with my mum saying why hadnt natwest rang or something. So i asked her to check my online banking an then i found out 270pound had been transferred to my joint account and 240 emergency cash by an atm had been withdrawn. I was immediately stressed an upset, i rang the bank an informed them of the situation. I was asked was it ok to disclose info to the police i agreed. I got a letter today saying they did not accept my fraud dispute. So iv now put in an appeal and told the police. I know i have been naive an maybe stupid but i have not taken this money. Please any advice is welcome. I will not stop until i get my money back. I will definately be closing my account with natwest as soon as the matter is sorted. the fact that you have said you got your mum to check your online banking means you are not secure!
If your mum knows your details who else does??

Disclosing your online banking details is a breach of the terms and conditions which is potentially why your fraud claim was rejected. Of course, you didn't actually tell Natwest that you gave your mom your login details.. right?
    I work for Natwest.

    Wrong.
The person on the phone only needs to know your name, address, DOB and account & sort number. No security questions (ie mothers maiden name, school, first pet etc) are asked.
I have had almost TEN replacement debit cards sent to me in the past two months due to this facility.
This fraud is rife at Natwest and they cannot control it (as confirmed by one of their advisors).
It is the inconvenience of having your card refused in a supermarket, petrol station etc that is the problem, not the money coming out of the account (as this will be refunded).

I find it very hard to believe that NatWest would authorise such a transaction without at least asking SOME security questions.

Also this facility is NOT unique to NatWest. A couple of years ago I lost a LTSB debit card outside the UK and was offered a similar emergency facility which would have involved me going to a specified ATM at a specified time and making a withdrawal with a code number. I have never seen this facility advertised by LTSB anywhere but it was offered to me at the time, although I didn't use it.

This would tend to confirm the same, though it does not say how you'd get the cash...

I have third party authority on my (18+) son's accounts and can see his transactions on my online banking.

That's fair enough, but I very much doubt the OP has done that.

That's not relevant. It is not the same as disclosing login information when you are the sole authority on the account.
    I work for Natwest.
  • I've recently had £1700 over a period of 5 days taken out by someone using the Natwest mobile app Getcash. Although I got the money refunded I've asked for the process to be investigated as I don't believe it's secure. I didn't give my details or security answers to anybody. I am thinking of changing banks because of this insecure system.
