  • Thanks everyone, that's been really helpful.
Fortunately we're not in a bad position as our kitchen was almost finished. I feel really sorry for those who may have been left with an empty room, and especially for all the employers, good luck.

im sorry, but anyone who bought from the moben/dolphin/sharps group deserves all they get.
do your research before you employ these type of shyster companies.
    Get some gorm.
  • Ranty66, Very sorry to hear about your job at Moben. As you say customers shouldn't hold breath for sinks and doors etc. I'm missing some kitchen doors (Sumatra walnut) and a few devices. Any idea who the suppliers are or will the administrators release these details eventually?

Someone I know has not long left Moben - seems like a wise decision. I'm looking to buy a new kitchen, and I'm stuck where to go. B&Q (though unlikely due to their bedroom furniture being a complete joke), IKEA, Magnet or Howdens.

I do read that Magnet and Howdens are better build quality etc. There's so many options when it comes to buying a kitchen: cabinets, appliances, surfaces, let alone the colours!

Out of curiosity, who do you work for Meepster? :)

I work for Magnet and I've never hid this fact, you'll find several posts of mine where I state this :)

(btw the post above wasn't trying to drum up business for me, I NEVER do that. It is intended to help the people who have lost/will be losing money)
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Oh right. Cool. It didn't come across like that either. I'm just nosey and need to start kitchen research soon. Too many decisions though! :S lol

I must admit though I have bought internal doors from Magnet and they were HALF the price in total with the hinges, carcasses, fire strips etc than Howdens - the robbing !!!!!!s!

Well, I work on the retail side, don't really touch trade. But I do know they always beat Howdens, even if it means losing money! (Howdens are the devil apparently :rotfl:)

I'll be happy to offer any generic (i.e. not Magnet specific) kitchen advice :)

As will some of the other regular posters, although you'll be better off starting a new thread :)

Well it's funny you say that meepster, as I was going to ask you in here if you'd be willing to help give me some advice and ideas. Not necessarily just magent specific - more design and layout etc.

Then I can work on getting the best prices. I can give you some dimensions to work from, along with where the doors and windows are. I've already decided on a design layout to an extent - dictated by the shape of the room and the doors etc. However the arrangement of the units and what I put in - I'm open to help, suggestion and advice from everyone.

    really appreciate the offer!! :beer::beer:

No worries, more than happy to help with that :)

If you could post a plan (even if it's a rough one, with dimensions on it) in a new thread I'll do my best. I have been known to do full detailed plans for people who ask nicely :D
