Worth getting windscreen cover?

Oh my you need to get out more. Please try specsavers as your 1st trip.
Your no claims wont be affected with your current insurer BUT... It's a claim so your premium MAY.
I see you have not found a link saying it wont affect your next years premium or how a new insurer
will classify you because you will declare that claim wont you?
Read my post properly did i say it will affect your NCB? NO.
I said a windscreen claim will be recorded TRUE. and may affect your premium also TRUE.
Just look at all the posts... "I had a non fault accident with protected NCB and yet my premium has gone up."
So the answer must be a big YES... Please continue.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I've had 2 screens in the last 3 years, one car and one van (last week). The cover is worth having I would say.
I've had 1 screen and 1 repaired chip in the last 40 years so maybe it isn't,;)
Attitude to risk?, you opted for cheaper insurance so why raise the price with extras??I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Do I need to continue?
Notice that all those say that specifically the no claims bonus will be unaffected. That may be true but it doesn't mean that they won't bump up your next premium for making a windscreen claim.... and then apply your unchanged no claims bonus to that.
Duh! I just read post 12.0 -
Having a windscreen replaced has never effected our premium and we get through a few.... Last year alone across 6 vans/cars we had 3 new screens and we are paying less for the insurance this year when compared with last year.
It maybe different for others but a few people in this thread have mentioned about having their screens replaced but nothing about their premium increasing or decreasing. Maybe those that have ACTUALLY had a windscreen replacement would like to comment on their premium.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

Have you ever had a renewal come through from the current insurer in the last 5 years that has been cheaper?? In the last 10 years I have NEVER had a renewal from the insurer come in cheaper it has always risen. A few calls and you can usually beat it very easily. Regardless of an accident/claim or windscreen the general trend is for insurance to go up.
As for finding links about a windscreen not effecting your premium why not try and find a link that will state your insurer will be cheaper the following year without a claim...........Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
OP really needs to find the price for a windscreen replacement for their car to make this decision.
For my car the windscreen is £1000 + fitting, so I always make sure to have windscreen cover.0 -

Sorry chap but you are playing the fleet scenario.
The op doesn't care about 6 vans or cars, or the mileage????? you did.
As an aside, the only time I had a screen changed, I went direct to the repair depot and paid cash, (not a lot), to have it done there and then).
I some how doubt if the OP has a (sumised) crappy car that is only worth insuring TPFT, then it will have an exclusively expensive windscreen:beer:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

You'd be surprised, windscreens for some older cars can be prohibitively expensive. I remember having to scrap a manky old 1994 Passat after someone smashed the windscreen.
In hindsight I should have kept it, it was one of the best bangers I ever had, but it was cheaper to buy an F reg Golf for £250 (which was then stolen a few weeks later)0 -

I have never, ever had a premium rated, due to claiming on glass insurance. There is no reference to loading or rating premiums because of claims on glass cover, because it doesn't exist. I have provided proof that no claims discounts are not affected by claims on the cover, how about showing proof that premiums are rated because of the claims.
I have never, ever been asked to declare claims on glass cover and I suspect no one else has either. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

What are you on about, its irrelevant whether we are talking fleet or single vehicle, the point I clearly made (clearly not clear enough for you) that your premium is unlikely to rise because of a windscreen claim, it will rise 99% of the time whether you make a claim or not as that is just the usual trend.
Just to add we don't run a fleet, they are all on individual insurance policies.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
