There is a link at the bottom of the page for XP users: http://www.trusteer.com/book/xp-users-uninstalling-rapport-using-safeuninstall-utility

The process is pretty much the same, but without the UAC prompts that the Vista/7 guide has.

Thanks, used that link which claimed success. However Rapport setup was still in downloads along with the uninstaller. I dumped them in recycle and emptied it, but I guess that's not enough?
Worse, the original problem still exists. However having installed Google Chrome login works fine there. Looks like Firefox won't be my preferred banking browser.

Use Opera, Crapport can't install to Opera, and importantly HSBC will not give their relentless reminder to install Crapport

  • Uninstalling Rapport on Mac OS X
Uninstalling Rapport on Windows Vista and Windows 7
    Uninstalling Rapport on Windows XP
Uninstalling Rapport using the SafeUninstall Utility
    Uninstalling Rapport Via Safe Mode

It's irrelevant now but for anyone else later looking up this thread .. .. the link I gave you earlier in #15 offers all 5 options above
