I can understand why you wouldn't want letting agent signs up (they are pretty horrible and the agents tend to leave them up all year) but a for sale sign. Surely your neighbours must realise they're only making problems for themselves if they want to sell in the future.
We are selling to (hopefully) buy a house but yes the "over zealous" nature of a couple of the neighbours can be frustrating. Common sense doesn't seem to prevail. They are in their late 60's and most probably here for the rest of their days and in essence have nothing better to do. They even shopped a neighbour in when their car tax elapsed (by 1 day).
Unfortunately, this particular neighbour in question has the ear of the MA as they complain so much about everything and nothing and the MA presumably does anything they can to get rid of them.0 -
Loving the thread lol. OMG some people really need to get a life (your neighbour, I mean!).
I'd just leave them to it. Tell the MA they have to deal direct with the EA. It'll never get done... I'd not worry about it.
Stoopid moany people.

Just be glad you're getting away from this neighbour and don't worry about the board - of all the houses we've recently viewed very few had signs up outside (security issue?) but it's not difficult to work out which house it is (ok slightly more difficult for a flat but the description usually shows the building & states what floor it's on).
If I'm looking to move I use Globrix/Rightmove etc to find properties within my budget etc - walking past a for sale sign that hasn't previously come up in any of my online searches usually means it's not what I'm looking for so it wouldn't make me enquire further (though maybe have a look out of curiosity on prices)

I agree! How do these people cope when faced with real problems?!
I had to contact the MA as they had already been in touch with the EA who in turn then contacted me.
The EA advised me that the neighbour had also call him previously, and literally screamed at him down the telephone as soon as he answered!0 -
Glad the OP established some of their obligations towards their neighbours, but not all it seems ...
Senior citizens in their 60s are more likely to automatically uphold proper standards than more junior citizens in a hurry to get where they are going and Managing Agents always need cajoling to do anything right ...
It was ever thus ...0 -

I do agree, it's just a board, but it's also some old wotsit interfering with our lives and (possibly) decreasing our chances of moving on in life, and now the unhelpful MA (are they ever helpful?) putting their oar in too.0 -
Be carefull, 2sides2everystorey could be your neighbour2sides2everystory wrote: »Think big picture people - we don't all want to live in streets cluttered by sundry estate agent signs of various vintages, unkempt gardens, cars parked on pavements, bins overflowing, mattresses and building waste left out for goodness knows how long etc. etc.
I feel sorry for those that do have to put up with it as the norm, but like the OPs neighbour, I have no intention of letting anyone drag down the standard in my street either, and especially if they are moving on.0 -

Good advice. Also try playing the 'nice but dim' approach should the MA come back to you on it - ie say you've spoken to the EA but not sure what they're doing as yet but will be speaking again to them soon.
Then just ignore it until the MA contact you again - which they won't for several days or longer. Rinse and repeat til the MA get bored of it.3.9kWp solar PV installed 21 Sept 2011, due S and 42° roof.

Or just shout and go ballistic saying you want a board and you're paying for a board in your fees, etc. Of course, it's all twoddle, but in these cases (as this shows too!) it's often who shouts loudest gets heard!
I used to work for a managing agents. OMG some of the ol' busybodies and strange bods that used to ring regularly... jeez. We had a lot of flats in Central London. Some strange folk out there, I can tell you that much! Some would just turn up at our offices (New Bond Street, not exactly a 'drop in' kinda place), banging on about all sorts (one complaining about a toaster or kettle, I seem to remember lol).
