Recycling Tetrapak (merged)

The Sainsbury's in Bolton is on Trinity Way, just off the A6660

Husband came home the other day from our local recycling waste site saying that the site is also collecting the tetra packs for recycling ( tetra not being collected by our 'green' fortnightly collection ). The guy there said they ( presumably the Council ? in this case Bromsgrove Council) are going to see how good the response is and see how it goes..............
If hubby had not gone to the site we would not be in the know. I think that is very poor.
How many other Councils collect tetra packs at the waste sites but not on the 'green' house collections. Or are the people who collect the recycling from homes not the same collectors as at the sites ?0 -
The following link takes you to a site where you can look to see nationally if there is a site near to you:
http://www.tetrapakrecycling.co.uk/locator.asp
Alternatively you can send the following to your local council encouraging them to partner with Tetra and Ace UK who are providing a cost neutral bank to the councils so we can all recycle these packs. Follow the link for reference and how to inform your council should their recycling officer be on the golf course or wherever !!!

Just found a new site in South Manchester. Previously the nearest site for manchester was Bolton!!! There may be many more new sites around the country so feel free to add them below:
Tesco, East Didsbury, South Manchester
Sainsbury's, Bolton0 -
I assume that you are aware that there are no recycling facilities in the UK for Tetra-Paks, only collection centres. The used Tetra-Paks collected in the UK are sent all the way to Norway & Sweden to be be recycled.
Wouldn't it be more sensible to buy products in packaging that could be recycled locally rather than shipped 1000 miles to be recycled? (and then how many more miles are the products from the recycling process shipped?)0 -
elysimuk - I've merged your thread with this original one, to keep it all together. I've used the address labels to send mine off to Perrys Recycling unit as suggested by Innocent Drinks

Ideally, yes but I cant afford to make that point. At least by recycling the packaging we are doing something rather than just throwing it in the bin.
Surely if more and more of us recycle tetrapaks they might end up recycling here in the UK?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

surely its also better if we dont buy products that come in tetra packs and buy say juice which comes in a glass jar or a plastic bottle which can be recycledNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20
