Recycling Tetrapak (merged)

I think they do recycle them mine claims to do, they don't recycle yoghurt pots etc because there little money in it0

I agree with you a lot of recycling is quite depressing when you look into the facts. but its not just about the carbon emissions - what about the increased landfill if all the plastics from the UK that are currently recycled (in china or elsewhere) went in the ground instead?0

Found out by accident that Hull City Council have started to recycle Tetra paks at the new center on Wiltshire Rd. They haven't advertised the fact.
I go through about 10 a week so great for me.0 -
Yay, Wandsworth Council in London have started to recycle tetrapaks in both their orange bag scheme and recycling banks. I also get through a fair few of these a week so I'm dead pleased.0

I live in a block of flats, so don't have recycling collections. I do all the splits at home and then about twice a month take it to the recycling centre.
I separate all cardboard/carton packages from food, as long as they're not wet (for example, cereal boxes, ready-made food, etc), and drop them in the "cardboard" section of the centre: nobody has ever said anything, even though there are employees around checking what people drop.
However, all I ever see there are the big brown cardboards from furniture or that stuff. Don't people know they can put any cardboard there as well?
This is something I learnt from my years living in Switzerland.
Tetrapacks from liquids however, go in the normal bin.
I've checked the link from a previous post, and it says that it's "coming soon" to my recycling centre ("before 30 Nov 2007"), so I can't waitBeing brave is going after your dreams head on0 -
This website shows places that take tetrapaks for recycling:

surely its also better if we dont buy products that come in tetra packs and buy say juice which comes in a glass jar or a plastic bottle which can be recycled
its not always that simple, my family use gallons of various soya products that i have only ever seen in cartons, just glad i am one of the lucky ones who live in an area that have tetrapak collection- prior planning prevents poor performance!

I live in Bolton and the council now takes Tetrapak as part of our fortnightly cardboard recycling0
-
our local tesco (bognor regis) now has a bin for tetrapak cartons (about time!)November NSD's - 70

Indeed it is better not to buy in tetrapak but sometimes, when there is no alternative (like in: my son hates the milkman-delivered orange juice in glass bottles and will only drink organic oj from the supermarket...etc. etc.) then at least there is a recycling facility for the container.
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
