Friday 24th June - What small things will you do today??!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D
Morning everyone - woop woop for Friday:j
Hope you're all having a good week and feeling cheery...hugs to anyone who needs one:)
Not a lot going on here - off to work, slightly earlier finish at 2.30 today. DD2 is out at a friends tonight so dd1 and I having a chinese...well, we might - if she can be nice to me and her sister this morning:o
Here's my list:

Hi all
Sorry I've been absent all week, been very tired and busy and also... NOT SMOKING! YaY! :j Haven't had one since 10pm Monday night...
Anyway, now I've got that off my chest, thanks Pixie for starting us off, enjoy your Chinese, serendipity, you too! ixia that's fantastic about the haricut money... it's only the last few times I've had mine cut that I've actually legitimately had the money put aside for it...what a great feeling! :T
Must be quick as late-ish already, so here goes my list:
[strike]1. Check OnePoll morning[/strike]
[strike]2. Breakfast from home[/strike]
[strike]3. Either a LSD or NSD - hopefully NSD, but if LSD I pledge not to spend more than £4...that's all that's in my purse anyway! :rotfl:[/strike]
4. Lunch from home...tuna and rice salad...third day in a row, thankfully the last of it, am sick of the sight of the stuff! :rotfl:Fail - couldn't stant the sight of it so had hospital lunch £1.25
5. Work hard - primarily get up to date with emails (about 300 behind at the mo ), and tidy desk ready for when my new guy starts Monday to help sort my workload :j (by the way one of the bosses confirmed to me on Wednesday that they'll announce my promotion at the beginning of July, which is technically when it kicks in, I'll be Senior, woo hoo!)didn't do great, I'll admit
[strike]6. Remember to take the bottle of wine to my friend's house after work that I bought specially and on offer (3 for £12) on Wednesday![/strike]
[strike]7. Obsess about budgets and the fact that mine have gone completely awry due to interest now being charged as I'm "no longer in financial difficulty and paying over the minimum payments"[/strike]
[strike]8. Try and come up with solutions for the above - preferably in lunch break only, thus sticking to my work hard goal!!!:rotfl:[/strike] think I have my solution
9. Check OnePoll afternoon
[strike]10. Dinner from home - portion of storecupboard sauce (so easy and so yummy) and pasta[/strike] didn't do this as ended up having dinner at my friends house - her husband cooks and he made us lovely homemade turkey kievs! mmm
11. Think of ways to make more money - unfortunately a proper part time job probably isn't a solution, I literally have no spare time and am always tired at the moment - partly because I live so far away from everything (but can't move till debts paid off but can't pay them off quick enough due to not having any extra time...vicious circle!) - I'm doing surveys till I dream about them and entering every competition that comes through on my email and trying to do my degree in my spare time as well and I'm out the house from about 0715 till about 2000 every weekday due to work/travel/walking so I'm really struggling anyway and that's without an extra commitment!
[strike12. Don't get upset about above...getting stressed just writing it
[/strike]
13. Check One Poll evening
14. Do email surveys
15. Drive at 65 to conserve petrol FAIL - I was sooo late I had to bomb it down the motorways, d'oh!
Think that's it, have a great day all!

DNMS two day late response
I'll be in Uganda for at least the next two years, maybe longer. Super jealous of your trip to Brazil, i've never been!
Still so jealous of your trip, Perni!! Hope you have a fantastic time.
So much holiday talk!! I will need to plan one of my own soon. My mum is coming in September and we are thinking of going up to Masai Mara in Kenya, but I am desperate to get back to Ethiopia for some hiking in the north as well. That may have to wait until later in the year to hit the good weather.
Off on a work visit to the dusty and rather glum town of Mbarara. Technically on NSDs today and yesterday as everything is covered by per diems, may even have enough left over to see me through the weekend.
So, today its a short list:- have an NSD
- Work like a maniac

- work out how to get back home on saturday as I may miss my ride due to a very last minute event! I may take public transport, or beg out of the event
Kisses everyone

Morning All!
Thanks for starting us off, and i hope you enjoy your chinese, Jealous! I love Chinese but am on a missing to lose lbs so none for me for a while
.
My list for today:
1) Work 8 hours (Boo Hoo!)
2) Leaving lunch with my friend today, although its only at the pub and its 2 for £8 so should be relatively cheap.
3) Then get home, get PJ's on, get on sofa, glass of wine and watch chick flicks with mum and CHILL! All my jobs are done this week bar a little bit of washing, but im on top of everything so very pleased with myself.
All this non spending and watching the pennies means I've been getting upto to date with all cleaning, shopping, organising and catching up! Must do it more often mid week then I can use my weekends for me. BF is back on Tuesday so this weekend is just me, as my parents go on holiday tomorrow, cant wait for a bit of ME time
