Thanks for the new thread and the support - especially Zippy, Mrs M and Rosieben

Please put Hex2 down for £300 in August

    - income has dropped by a scary 75% for the forseeable future and I could really do with coming in under this. Groceries and household for two adults, two boys, part time teenager, six hens, four cats and two dogs.

I can feel a lot of egg and courgette dishes coming up this month - unlimited supply of both atm :D

Can you put me down for a £100 for this month for two adults.

I have already spent £4.83 as there was an offer of 3 X 400g blocksof cheese for the price of one and then one reduced loaf of bread.

Have put the loose change in my mortgage over payment pot.

I do need to get some frozen veg as I am running down my chest freezer to defrost it. So I am trying not to buy stuff.

    Yours

    Calley

  • Hi everyone, stumbled across this and it looks great!:D

Loads of superb recipes which is fantastic as getting a bit sick of eating the same thing all the time!:o

I have a quick question (sorry if it's obvious and I've missed it) - is it just "groceries" you include or things like toiletries/cleaning products and pet food etc? (which are often bought with the "weekly shop").

I'm taking part in the Frugal Living Challenge and they're broken down to separate budgets in that so not sure whether to add them together or not?

    Thanks:o

Welcome to the challenge. The answer is it is entirely up to you - your challenge, your decision. Just set the rules in your head before you start so you can't 'cheat' :p

Some of us put everything in one budget, others do just food, or food and household.

  • Brilliant, thanks Hex2:D and also for the welcome.

In that case, I'll add the groceries and household budgets but exclude pet costs - these are on the steep side as include medication for dog, insurance for them all etc. I also tend to buy most of their food etc online in bulk so can spend a fortune one month and very little the next.

However, I will include any pet treats that are sneaked into the shopping trolley!:o

As I've been doing the FLC I know what I spend (which is an improvement on last year!) but haven't made much progress yet at cutting it down - hoping I'll learn new tricks here!

So, a budget of £175 for August please.
