Moral dilemma - what to do?

A work colleague mentioned this to me today and wants to know what she should do:
This morning the postman delivered a blue envelope through the letterbox. I opened it without even looking and inside is a birthday card with a £10 note inside.
I then look at the name on the front of the envelope and its addressed to the person who lived in our house before us (we have never met and don't have a forwarding address for them).

If there are no relevent details of either the sender and you can't forward/return it then if you feel unable to keep it then give it to charity0

No way of finding out where they have moved too?
Thats happened to us but the opposite way round. We moved and the following day my DH`s grandad (who didnt know we were moving) sent birthday cards with £10 in each for our 2 children.
I actually went to my old address and asked if anything had been recieved but they denied anything being sent there.DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

I agree that if you can't send it back or redirect it, that you should give it to charity.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Why would you open a birthday card without checking the name on the front? It could have been the next door neighbour's delivered to the wrong address, and would have stood out being a blue envelope with a card inside when you're not expecting any cards yourself.0

I always wonder that too. Birthday cards are quite obvious compared to general letters!DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Yes, I'm sure that's why so many of them never reach their final destination

If you're feeling particularly helpful, you could give the estate agent from whom you bought the house, a quick ring. They may have an address they could forward it onto.0
