I found another when I was looking for a new car recently
    autobid
personally I would search around for broker /online prices and get local dealer to match or get close to it. Try looking for a online forum for the car/model/manufacturer u are after, I am sure someone can give u more detailed info on prices or specialist brokers.

.... or know anyone who has or know much about them? These online brokers seem to do some good deals but not sure how reliable they are or if they have a pile of hidden charges to surprise you with later.

    Cheers.

I used them recently, simply complete your request online, and they put you intouch with a dealer, all the money stuff is done through the dealer, so there is nowt to worry about (other than the usual dealer worries) car delivered as requested

  • After making my post yesterday, where I informed prospective car buyers about the poor service I received from Broker4cars; this morning I received a pretty angry message from them on my answer phone. I also notice there are a few new comments on this forum extolling their virtues; quite coincidental no doubt as I am sure there must be some happy customers.
The trouble is that my account is accurate and I am the losing party here; I have lost time and money, and still don't have my new car, or an apology.
I will be trying to save money and use one of these brokers again, but not Broker4cars, or any company where I am not dealing direct with the franchised dealer. My contract with these people counted for nothing and guaranteed me nothing, despite me honouring my side of it.

I don't really understand where things have gone wrong for you, as said I used them to purchase my current car, everything went smoothly, I have no asscociation with the broker other than being a content customer. As you can see from the pic in my previous post, I picked up the car from the dealer, my deposit was paid to the dealer and also the balance, no monies from me directly went to the broker, he just put the dealer in touch with me , that's how I thought they all worked.

Dear DUTR, if you don't understand where things went wrong for me then perhaps I have not been clear enough before.

I complied with the methods Broker4cars set out; a broker fee of £250 to them with the order and the balance prior to the agreed delivery which never took place.
They never told me the dealers name, just that it was an official Kia dealership in the north east of England (now out of business according to Broker4cars); the car was to be delivered to me at my home.
If they have recently changed their method of operation and they now put you directly in contact with a dealer then that would be a safer way of working, but if they now only operate that way then it must be a recent change.
However it was also the case that they were totally disinterested in the problems they caused me, and just strung me along hoping to make something for themselves out of the problem I was in.
When I told them how much money I was going to lose on the deal, they just complained to me that they had lost £6k on mine and other peoples failed contracts, so if they were telling the truth I am only one of many losers.
I signed a contract with them and paid them as and when required, and they dishonoured that contract; they were not interested in my problems as a customer, and I believe the purpose of these forums is to inform people about the times when things go wrong, as well as when they go well.

Dear bigjl, I wonder which broker you work for ?,

I don't work for a competitor of yours, I am an independent consumer using this forum to alert other potential consumers about the problems I have encountered with Broker4cars.

This is the 2nd car I have ordered through a broker, none neither had asked for any fee. Basically emailed them my request, then they contacted me to confirm and informed a local dealer would handle the order thereafter.
The 1st car in 2005 was from a dealership 50 miles away, but that was no sweat as it was a simple train journey, the more recent one was in June this year, the dealer called me then confirmed the order, I paid £1000 deposit to the dealer by credit card and the balance upon collection, with both dealers I sent of my retention certificate to allow them to put the plate on the new car, both were VW dealerships, both times it was easier than buying soluble paracetomol.
As the deposit was paid for with a credit card, I knew I had little to worry about, both the Broker and the dealer in both cases were a pleasure to deal with.

If I find myself in a position to purchase another new car, broker4cars will always be my 1st choice.

Interesting to see the conflicting experiences here. I was very much of the opinion that the well established, respectable and reliable brokers received enquiries and subsequent orders and then passed the details on to their nominated manufacturer main dealer and that the dealer received the deposit from the customer direct and dealt with the sale to it's conclusion from there and that you had no further dealings with the broker...they themselves receiving a commission at some point in the process (from the dealer, not direct from the customer). I wouldn't buy on any other basis than this and know that brokers such as DrivetheDeal operate this way. Having said that Broker4Cars has been trading for years to my certain knowledge, as have Drivethedeal, Autobytel, Carfile and Broadspeed and a number other, well established brokers. Although I admit to being surprised to look on Google Streetview to see that Broker4Cars seems to share an address with "The Wreck" pub in Ripley and there seems to be not much more than a couple of anonymous rooms above the pub with the front door bearing no identification other than the number (the same number as the pub). This in itself counts for not a lot but, myself, find it a bit disconcerting....but, as I say, they have been trading for years and, I trust, will continue to do so and customers like DUTR. above, are evidence of their provenance, I would think.

It looks remarkably coincidental that there was a trio of first time posters above all berating B4C...but life's full of coincidences!

Obviously if you can get your local dealer (or even a not so local but convenient to get to dealer) to do a similar deal to that offered by the brokers then that would be preferable (and it can be done - I've done it myself).
  • Hi,
This post is about 5 months old. Just wondering if you went with broker4cars or if anyone has more recent experience
I'm looking at buying a nissan and they've said all nissans are brand new (I will be the 1st reg keeper), BUT there is no option to pay the dealer as all nissans go through them so I'd have to pay £500 on my cc to them and balance would be split between down payment and finance. They are about £2k cheaper than drive the deal and carfile and broad speed.
    Thanks
