My oven has been missing it's glass door for more than 3 years due to a broken hinge. The oven still works without it, maybe a bit less efficient but it works.

...and the kitchen's nice and warm too!

Just ring them and ask them, I would have thought with a hob and a microwave you can manage if it is only a week or so.

    Spag Bol all round...

This has got me thinking... I use the oven far less frequently than I use the hob. If I had to be without either I'd go without the oven for sure. Just cook lots of pasta sauces, pretty mumma - no need for an oven :)

Compensation is primarily to recompense you for a financial loss.

Having to eat out being the obvious loss.

Read the OP - it's been nearly a week already. There is no timescale put forward by Boots/Smeg.

Really? Pretty mumma's not confirmed but it's likely she still has a hob. A hob and a microwave. If you can't rustle up dinner using those you need to get some 'how to live without dying' lessons.

They do not have to eat out though.

Fourth working day from when the problem was reported and an engineer has visited and a letter been sent. Sounds like they are right on the ball and 4 days is hardly a massive inconvenience.

Pasta, stir fry, mince and potatoes... Plenty of stuff that can be cooked on the hob. I'd be surprised if a Smeg oven did not have a seperate grill... They aint exactly a budget brand.

I can read, thank you - all that education is not wasted hurrah. There is no indication it won't take less than a week either.....;)

Errr, it's been a week on Sunday and insofar as we know, the part is still on order.
