Glad I stopepd eating cod for ethical reasons a while ago! Do other fish have these? I (used to) love fish!

I once took a bag of porridge oats back to tescos because I found a maggot in them, got £10 for my trouble eventually but only after they had analysed it & written to me telling me it had digested oats in it! I guess this this so people don't scam them but like I needed to know!

Worms are common in fish, particularly cod. They are harmless to humans if the fish is cooked or frozen.

I haven;t been able to eat blackberries since seeing loads of worms come out of them when my nan soaked them in saline solution.

    Now it's fish.

What a great quote from that link!
It can also be explained that the presence of worms does not reduce the nutritional value of the fish

  • According to my favourite author Anthony Bourdain in his excellent book 'Kitchen Confidential', all fish have these parasites but the worst one for them is swordfish, his fishmongers refused to eat it because it would be literally crawling with them, and Anthony has never eaten it since either. I'm sad because swordfish was the only fish I liked!

I had a maggot in my RAchels' yoghurt the other day. Actually, to put it correctly, my 1 and a half year old son found it in his mouth and was very upset. YICK! I sent it back to rachel's with the packaging and have heard nothing - this was a month ago. I at least expected a letter back.
