I had a similar incident with Sainsburys. Bought some sugar snap peas on my lunch once. Sat there munching away at my PC talking to the girl @ the next desk and, i dont know why, but i opened the pod i was eating only to find that a fat, very alive caterpillar had beaten me to the peas! Complained to Sainsburys via the website and they gave me £15 back on my nectar card

Went on to split the rest of them open - found 3 more which was quite horrid!

I used to work in a chip shop and it was quite normal to find little white worms in the fish. They did no harm and you just chucked them in the fryer with the fish.

The fish was not off - it was the frozen on the boat stuff.

Not sure if this is what you are describing though.

they were white worms that were in the fish that we had :p I have since been told that they are normal in fresh fish and was told to always rinse fish before use and run the edge of a knife along the fillet before cooking as it draws them out  . Not sure if this is true though as somebody posted above they can cause a stomach upset so I think the take away was definately a good idea especially as it was on sainsburys:p

I used to like fish. WIsh I hadn;t read this thread.

I haven;t been able to eat blackberries since seeing loads of worms come out of them when my nan soaked them in saline solution.

    Now it's fish.

    Ugh.

I bought a bag of sugarsnap peas from Morrisons once and when I opened this particular one I found a caterpillar! I kept him till my OH came in then took him back to the shop - whilst trying to ignore the whinging from OH! and I got £5 back.

I hope that you enjoyed the indian on Sainsburys!

My friend used to work for a well known brand of fish products, and she will not eat cod any more due to the fact that the cod has these parasites. It's extremely common aparently. Glad I am veggie, lol!

I don't fancy fish any more. Do fish fingers have worms in too?

Normally these parasites are removed when the fish is processed, most cod is riddled with them but many consumers don't get to see them.

    Don't eat cod.

Just got in from Sainsburys with my nice piece of taste the difference cod for tea (reduced...don't panic o/s folks). Sadly - it looks like something got there first - a little wriggly fellow who doesn't realise that we only compost vegetable matter!!!!!!!

Should I be horrified and shocked? I once took a tin of tomatoes back to Tescos because they had a caterpillar in, and the SA managed to convince me they were common as muck, and fobbed me off with 19p refund.

Well it isn't worth me going back out again for a refund, so should I just cook it well and pretend nothing has happened? Or do I have to go and kick up a stink (I'm not really a kicking up a stink kind of girl).

    Advice appreciated

Ew:eek:, I'm not a great fan of fish, this really puts me off now. I would take it back and complain.
