You can start any program automatically in the sandbox(ie) by editing the command line for the icon, even in the post 30 day trial version.

Comodo Firewall (the best free firewall by a very long way in my opinion) has a sandbox mode as part of the package....

Excellent firewall but its sandbox, by Comodo's own admission, isn't designed to provide the same level of protection as Sandboxie. It simply provides 'good enough security' with minimum inconvenience.

I have seen that avast has Sandbox.....Is it worth getting rid of MSE and installing Avast instead.

I use sandboxie web browser for my internet banking, but i can't remember why.
I just remember reading it, as an alternative to rapport, which my bank tries to get me to download.

People(experts) on here often warn against installing rapport on your computers.

But what's the reason for using your web browser behind sandboxie? is it to stop keyloggers being installed on your system?

Having had a really vicious computer infection from a so-called safe site, and getting really p*ss*ed off by the failure of "conventional" anti-virus solutions to protect my computer, I spent a couple of weeks investigating Sandboxie and trying to understand the concept.

As a non-techie, initially there were more questions than answers but I went for it anyhow on the basis that it's better to prevent an infection in the first place than to try and clean up everything afterwards.

That was around eighteen months ago. I started with the free version to try it out and was so impressed I upgraded to the paid-for version.

I have run all my internet browsing in Sandboxie ever since so that it doesn't matter what junk is downloaded onto my system, virus's, spyware, malicious URLs, as soon as I close the browser it's gone.

It makes it sound as if I make a habit of visiting unsafe sites - I don't but I there is so much malware around and a lot of it seems to be coming from sites which on the face of it are reputable but have been hijacked and that signature based anti-virus software seems unable to recognise until it is too late.

For me I can't recommend Sandboxie highly enough. It's saved my bacon a number of times and once you can get your head round the concept it really is quite simple.

Sandboxing or HIPS security certainly seem to be the way to go as with the amount of malware released each day most AV programmes are just playing catch-up.

I also have Sandbox with the free version of Avast. Didn't realise I had it until I upgraded Irfanview a couple of nights ago and it opened in the Sandbox.

IMHO yes because Avast is a more fully featured a/v than MSE with web shield and email scanning. And you know when it is updating, unlike MSE.

Don't rely on the Avast sandbox feature though particularly in the free version as it doesn't include the full Sandbox module and its enhancements.

I use Sandboxie and Avast Free but with Avast's sandbox disabled.
