Well following on from my paint a shed debate
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3119822
things are slowly developing in my garden, lack of funds means I am having to do one area at a time so I am currently building my own secret corner of the garden:o
This is the developments of the bed/trellis structure I mentioned on this thread:eek:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3277292
(still need to finish off with some more trellis and debating if i should put a shelf in on the left and maybe a mirror and some string lights so bare with it:o)

Hey, it's looking really good. Is that the frame made out of a bed-well done you!
It looks as though you might have bindweed thoughit's growing up the bit of trellis behind your table and chairs. Someone more experienced might be along to correct me, but it looks just like mine. I would try to eradicate it now-mine is about to flower so if we have a dry weekend I will be out painting it with weedkiller.
Keep up all the hard work though, it's really movng forward.0 -
It's looking great
As for the bindweed; I had assumed it was some variety of bean that PCFP had planted?0 -

It is bindweed- Its only in that spot thankfully as got rid of it elsewhere, the whole area needs re weeding down there again but everytime i go in the garden the kids next door come over to torment me:(
I shall go out in a moment for a bit of midnight gardening as soon as I think they are asleep:rotfl:
Its all going to be pebbled over under the table and eventually the tumbled barbeque on pic may be rebuilt 9the boy next door smashed a peice and told me i could stick it back together with cellotape:think:
I do have some peas in the raised bed and cougette plus a few potatoes, broccolli- again i had to put flowers around the edge to encourage the kids next door not to climb into the bed:(
I am putting an arch in the gap next to the trellis in front of the table so it is enclosed?
then the fence needs painting up when i find a cheap deal on paint.
....and hopefully the honeysuckle and jasmine will grow bigger....:o***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
Love the pink trellis
Assume you painted that yourself, can't say I've ever seen any for sale.
Looks like you are well on the way to having a lovely little hideaway in that corner of the garden.0 -

Im my own worse enemy at the moment as only buying bits if its about a pound, the glass bowl etc , coal bucket are years old from my old house etc.
I wanted a wooden arch but refuse to pay £100 for one:(***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
Ever thought of planting a couple of rambling roses along the fence, the kind with thorns about an inch long? You can usually find these in the ££ shop. Look for climbing varieties and check the pack for length of thorn. I've got a couple of nameless yellow ones I got fron Woolworths years ago and they have grown into a close approximation of a barbed wire fence, belive me.
ETA. Forgot to say...looking good!Val.0 -

the back alley is again full of more of next doors rubbish so i need to go clean it as i spotted a rat in their garden this morning and i dont want it eating my veg:(
im sick of them dumping stuff-i already cleaned it once and its not my alley. if i put stuff over the fence it may give them a place to tunnel so i will probably put baskets or tubs, or maybe sweetpeas next year. because of the rat problem and rubbish i have to keep it from getting too overgrown at the fencing:(
I did do all the bindweed last night and got rid of all the weeds and cut back the rose yet again.***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
Looks great. I'd probably avoid a shelf as it may make the structure too top-heavy, and also restricts the height of what you can grow below.0

let that bindweed grow up a cane or some and then treat with a sytemic weedkiller. as for the mirror be careful you get something that can cope with cold weather and footballs should next doors kids kick one over the fence! Also watch out for birds you can get stckers to stop them flighting in to it. Mirrors are a great for making your garden look bigger than it actually is.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120
