Hi there
Carmen - re the "midriff" - best bet is exercise devoted to strengthening the core muscle group. I posted details of a good website further back on this thread - will try and find it for you. Also tummy/ab crunches work well too. I've lost about 4 inches off my waist and the "muffin tops" have gone completely.
I'm quite pleased with myself tonight - finally managed to start exercising properly again. Although I'm usually pretty good at doing a few minutes yoga each day I have been very remiss just lately on the exercise front.
This afternoon managed 2kms on the bike, some yoga and 40 tummy crunches. DS2 off tomorrow so will definitely go for a walk.
Feeling very tired now, bit of an emotional day - discussing OH's care needs with his care manager etc has left me feeling a bit drained. Still it has to be done.
G'night all. x0 -
Carmen
The website is called https://www.sparkpeople.com and there is a whole section devoted to core exercise, some video tutorials too. Explains and demonstrates how to do the exercises.
Pilates and yoga exercises are good for strengthening the core muscles too.
Any I'm off now .................0 -
Good morning everyone.
L.L. Sorry not been around for a while, Thanks for all the Ps. It was like a kick up the bum and the Positive one jumped right out at me.
My D.D. 1 bought me the Swarvoski perfume and body lotion for my birthday, usually I would save it for special occasions but have been using it most days. My favorite perfume is Clinique Aromatics it seems to lift your mood, perhaps I should use it more.
Went on the train to Manchester yesterday (with bus pass ) it is free, we were completely unaware that in the morning the Arndale centre had been evacuated, not quite sure of the reason but everything seemed quite normal when we were there, we left at 4-30 pm thank God we didn't see any of the rioting that occurred not long after, I am a real scaredy cat when it comes to violence.
We are still waiting to find out if OH will receive attendance allowance.
He suffers with epilepsy (has done for at at least 46 years) the day seizures have been under control for a few years but at night he has about 3 or 4. It was while I was in the Drs. (emergency apt ) I was desperate for some sleep that I saw a poster for Signpost. They are wonderful people who have changed my life, If I am desperate for someone to talk to theybare always on the other end of the phone and they have drop in mornings where you can just pop in for a coffee and a chat. They helped us fill in the form for attendance allowance which I had never dreamt of claiming but it would certainly be a big help.
I have been doing the OCM for a week now and it has certainly made difference to my skin. Need to find a reasonably priced moisturizer now.
Also be using the body brush before each shower and my skin seems a lot smoother.
Going to join the gym, fingers crossed if I can pluck up the courage, I love to swim but started with panic attacks so will try EFT before I get in water ( it is at the local council swimming pool) and if you pay £18 a month you can go to all the classes and use the pool as much as you want between 9-30 and 5pm. This is a membership for OAPs and
students.
In the last few weeks have had some really good buys from car boot will save that for a later post.
Lots of love to you all and thanks for all your advice. Sorry for the rambling.

Hi Everyone
Good to hear from your Philsmum. Sorry to hear aboutl your OH, must be very hard on you both.
Good luck with the Attendance Allowance, don't forget once your OH gets his AA you can then claim for carers allowance. Neither are means tested and won't affect any other benefits, tax allowances etc.
Don't feel guilty - you are entitled to it and should help quite a bit.
Must dash - OH calling - back later.................0 -
[QUOTE=Carmen;45960927Welcome_back_Poles, did you have a good holiday?
Carmen xxxx[/QUOTE]
We had a lovely time thanks. Scary how quickly you slip back into normal everyday life.
Not feeling to great today. I got stung by a wasp on my right b00b earlier. We have a wasp nest here at work and lots of dozy wasps. I think it dropped down from the light onto my blouse and got caught in the ruffles and when i moved it just stung me. Have taken some antihistamine and ibruprofen but it's still very uncomfortable (and red)
Hope everyone else is OK and not being affected too directly by all the rioting....It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
...Not feeling to great today. I got stung by a wasp on my right b00b earlier.....
Sorry to laugh at your misfortune, but that did make me giggle - it reminded me of my escapades with wasps.....
1. Many years ago (pre 1975) I was playing outside & my mum told me to go & put my shoes on as she'd killed a wasp and it was on the stairs. In I trot, pick up my shoes, come down the stairs (still in bare feet) and ..... step on the wasp which stings me:eek:
2. Similar era, going on family holiday, stopped for a picnic, happily eating my chicken sandwich when a wasp flies in, settles inside my sandwich and I bite the bit with the wasp in...and it stings the inside of my mouth:eek:
Anyway, enough of my frolicking with wasps!
No rioting here, it's pouring down anyway so that should put a stop to most of it.
Black trousers & t-shirt, black & white 3/4 sleeve cardi and black patent shoe-boots today....dressed for the weather!
I need to book some beauty appointments today - waxing, eyebrows, manicure and Minx nails on my toesWe're going to Portugal on 1st September for our honeymoon (we'll be there for our 1st anniversary
) so I need to be all spruced up & polished
Plans for the evenings & coming weekend include a good trot around the charity shops, clearing out my wardrobe & making sure my autumny stuff is ready for wearing as I think I will need it when we get back home in mid-September!0 -
Hi all, I hope everyone is having a good day. Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I feel and look a right mess at the moment! I'm gaining weight at a ridiculous rate. I'm 23 weeks pregnant, but my arms are already looking like dimply hams, my skin is rubbish, and I'm eating the most appalling junk at the moment. I really need a kick up the (even more huge) bum!HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69
Lloyds Credit Card: £1418.62, Very Account: £518.99, Barclaycard: £126
Total Debt as of 9th June 2020: £15066.660 -
Hi all,
Bratz - might have to try coconut oil - little dopey but how do you use on your hair, just put on direct and then rinse? before or after conditioning? I have navy (well it's called 'denim') nail polish at the moment but def needs redoing and haven't found time yet this week
Floss - I used to live in Burnley so Blackpool was generally our Sunday run-out when I was littleHave some very fond memories there, and will still often pop over when I'm back down for the nice new shopping centre!
Tru - glad the yoga's starting well, hope you have fun with your notebooks!
Philsmum - hope you had a nice day in Manchester and you hear back from the allowance people soon - they do seem to like to drag these things out!
Poles - glad you had a nice holiday, have to admit giggled a little as well at your wasp story - and floss's. I'm really paranoid about getting stung, I'm sure there must be a nest somewhere near our office building as I'm always getting ones flying in through the window - and then will have to spend half an hour trying to shoo the back without going too near them
Phoenix - please try not to worry about weight at the moment, am sure you will burn it all off running round when the LO gets hereMaybe just have a nice moisturing routine which will help your skin retain its elasticity and bounce back again afterwards!
Well it's absolutely pouring down here today (although at least no riots!) and we're supposed to be going out busking in the centre tonightHave got some very stylish rain ponchos tho lol! Am definately getting a bit nervous now  Fab-wise, have very little time for anything this week as will be dashing tonight and then straight from work to the gigs both tomorrow and Friday. Am hoping for a nice quiet weekend to catch up though and maybe a bit of a charity shop mooch.
Hope everyone has a nice day0 -
@podperson it comes in a solid (in a tub) and how I do it is rub my fingers on it to warm/soften it up and get it on my hands, then I massage it into my scalp and hair. Takes about 5 mins to get enough to cover my hair but if you weren't lazy like me and melted some in the microwave it would be easier
I do this before bed, and then I wash my hair in the shower in the morning and voila! Apparently you can also do this 1 or 2 hours before washing your hair instead of overnight but since I have a shower first thing every day overnight works best for me.
I've taken off my chipped navy polish and have a nice mint green on right now which doesn't seem to be chipping so much.
I've also decided to do 30mins of yoga a day and have done some every day this week so far. I have a channel on Sky called Body in Balance and they have loads of yoga, pilates and dancey type classes, and I usually tape a few on the Sky+, so I've a wee collection of them now and can alternate so I'm not doing the same routine every day.carpe diem

Hi all :hello:
My hip was really sore this morning, I didn't do yoga but I managed a few stretches and my 'official' exercises, it's loosened up a bit now.
I'm fighting with A6 size notepads, the holes don't line up properly. When I punch, I either get half a hole on either side, or the holes don't reach the sides at all and it won't fit on the wire. However, I've made some perfect A5 notebooksI'll take some pics as soon as I can get my hands on a working camera.
I'm having an early night tonight. I've showered, shaved legs, used all my lotions and potionsOh and I haven't eaten chocolate for three days, go me :rotfl: I've been eating bran, bowls of fruit and for tea today, I had a banana sandwich.
My daughter was leaving town earlier with 2 friends, a 16 year old boy who they've never met before invited them to join in with some rioting tonight. She told him how pathetic he was, he started bragging about what he'd smashed last night. The three of them told a policeman what he'd said. They left, the policeman was last seen heading across Kings Square towards the boyBulletproof0
