I meant to ask - I think someone said they had a........ can't think what it's called, a mini trampoline thingy? Might have been Bitsy? I want to know if they're any good, please :D

Aka known as a rebounder. Yes it was me and I think it's fab. Very good for the lymphatic system, NASA highly rates it. My pelvic floor doesn't however so if your not sure wear a pad or something to avoid any unwanted floods :rotfl: I enjoy it, it's definately a work out but more fun than slogging it at the gym. Start of slowly, be careful with your back and hip.

I was doing Wii fit at 10.30pm last night :eek: feel bit dehydrated this morning as I didn't drink enough after the work out :o like LL I have been having an attack of the munchies  piling it on this week :eek: so enough is enough.

Hugs for those that need them, keep on fabbing :)

    Morning all,

LL - I definately didn't see it as preachy, I just find it so sad sometimes that, well to use a perhaps naive term, that the world isn't a fairer place really. My parents, for example, are the loveliest people you will ever meet (my mum's obsessive cleaning aside of course!) they have time for everyone, they treat everyone the same and no one ever has a bad word to say about them. They have worked so hard all their lives and now they're retired they're on a ridiculously low income, losing money on their pension constantly and have to constantly scrimp and save to get buy. And yet where I work I constantly meet very well off, and not to sound judgmental but the majority of them are not very nice people at all. Unfortunately it's not like it's something I can do much about at the moment so ramble over! So sorry your DS didn't get the job, but that's great news on the wedding. I would suggest to him to click away as much as possible and if he can to get his own copies of the 'offical' wedding photos. For one thing you never know when there might be a need for another copy if something goes wrong with the main ones, and for another thing if he has copies he can use them as part of a portfolio to maybe get more jobs in the field. That's something that I find a bit of a struggle with photography, especially wedding, you have to have a portfolio to show people to get the jobs in the first place.

Bratz- yeah I have heard mixed reviews of the Garnier BB cream, if you could send me the link for your one would be great. Is it a mainstream brand you buy? I'm always a little wary buying foundation etc online as it can be so hard to judge the right colour for you - and most places won't take them back once you've had to open them to test! I usually try out in store and then look for cheaper online :) I must admit don't wear it much anyway as am thankfully blessed with fairly good skin most of the time but have heard good things about the BB cream and coming into winter could maybe do with a little more coverage.

Floss - love the dress! I would second black opaque tights, or even the blacks ones with a bit of a pattern could be quite nice. I think you could probably get away with black patent, although suede or something might be nicer. Bagwise, I would say maybe black and have some chunky gold-coloured jewellery.

Tru - glad you got the xmas card finished, am sure they will love it :) I have a mini trampoline somewhere (must get it back up again but have no idea where the legs have gone!). They're not bad, they must be good exercise as they knacker me out but I find it really hard to keep it up for any period of time so for a proper exercise routine might be best mixed in with other things. I used to have it in front of the telly and would go on it in the ad breaks - that was about as long as I could last on it for :rotfl:

Anyway yesterday was a bit of an odd day. Was in a good mood all day, was feeling quite creative and actually wanting to work on the writing, so decided would leave choir for this week and do work instead. OH came home a bit late so when I would normally be leaving and when I said I wasn't going he started on the whole, 'Why not, you should go, why are you skiving, now I'll have to be quiet tonight if you're working' (he was wanting to play some very loud computer game!) which put me in a bad mood and kind of zapped my creative mood :( Anyway I spoke to him later and said he'd upset me and he was actually quite horrified and said that he'd thought I just wasn't going because I was fed up (which I do do sometimes) and that since I usually enjoy it and feel better when I get there he'd thought pushing me a bit to go was the 'right thing' and the being quiet was because he was genuinely worried about disturbing me if I was trying to work. Anyway, made me think a little that I do tend to have a habit of constantly taking things that people (especially OH) say to me in the most negative way possible (like someone said a while back about getting compliments and automatically thinking that either they don't mean them or they're just being polite etc) and that's something I think I need to work on.

Fabwise, did a condition on my hair and body scrub. My hair was getting ridiculously long so decided would trim it, did the back ok and then went to trim the layers at the front and have gone way too short on them :o good job my hair grows quick!

Ah great, thanks Bitsy. Which one do you have?

I want to do aerobic exercise, but I'm struggling with Zumba a bit because of my hip. I'm OK at the moment but I want to take it up a level and I think non-impact would be much better for me.

Podperson, I'll probably just about manage a couple of minutes too, lol.

LL, sorry to hear about the job.

  • Hello Ladies!

Hope you are all doing well,

sorry yet again for not being around much - did say that things were going to be hectic and i think now that until march time things are going to be nuts so my posts may be a bit sporadic- but I am trying to pop in and read and keep up!!!

well, some very thoughtful posts (LL you had a lump in my throught with your posts about DH and living in the now) and some ups and some downs it seems! hugs to those that want them and vitual pom poms shaking for those who have done well!

well as I said it's been busy, crazy busy I honestly can't beleive we are at the end of October! work has been keeping me on my toes but it means I've had a very productive month, my hope is that if we can get more done earlier in the busy season things won't be quite so hard once we hit end of Dec/Jan which is usually where things get really awful and it's a bit of an endurance test to make it to March! so fingers crossed I think I've done a lot of the "ground work" to keep things flowing without a major meltdown!!!

Fabwise- just keeping on top of things more or less- this week not amazing, but I have managed to re-start my interval training on the bike, not really pushing hard yet- just a couple of times a week but it's showing- I've managed to lose 5lbs in the last two weeks !!!!:j

I'm really pleased as it had crept up a bit in last 2 months so nice to see it moving the right way again!

I've been enjoying my haul from the other weekend and putting the outfits together- has become part of my evening routine now I think and it really does make the mornings easier when everything is already picked/laid out! Less time spent staring at the wardrobe willing something to come together!

my main mission at the moment though is moisture!!! with the colder weather and heating on in office etc my hands and lips are really suffering! Lips are a bit of a constant battle for me anyway- to keep them from looking really bad I need to be applying balm all the time so I have popped s tube of lip balm and a tube of hand cream on my desk to remind me to use them through the day..now to actually do it!

right must dash- today is Diwali and this year Ive really gotten in to it ( cue me still making sweets @ 10pm last night) so much cleaning/decorating to be done before tonight...

    hope you are all well!

    Happy Diwali all!

Hi girls....good to catch up with you all.

On my fab front....sad to say, not a lot going on. To improve the condition of my hair, I finally decided to break my hair-dryer and straightener habit and just dry my grey/white locks "au natural", but, having used Pantene's Repair and Protect for yonks, thought I'd change that too, to Pantene's Smooth and Sleek, and guess what.... it DOES make my hair smooth and sleek, without the need for ANY heat!!! REALLY impressed, as it stays in the same state till the next time I wash my hair, so real MSE on the electricity front, yet it gives me the look I'm after without the damage that the hair-dryer and straightener brought to my hair!!!

I too am finding the munchies are impinging on my flagging willpower...maybe the time of the year......as this article seems to suggest:-

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2052975/Why-fatter-winter--eat-LESS.html

I've decided that at my age, ( almost 62),this winter, I'm just NOT going to struggle and invest so much time and energy worrying about my weight......I'm 5'4", and 105lbs at the moment, and reached this by eating a totally carnivore diet with the only carbs coming from eggs, organ meats, yoghut, ie. animal source, for the last two years. But yesterday I had such an urge for carbs that I went an bought some "popping corn" and needless to say, I overindulged....but I'm back on track today, so it seems I've appeased my inner carb-god!!!LOL

Tru, I too, like Bitsy and PP, have a rebounder, bought from Argos a few eons ago, after reading the Nasa stuff about it. I was an avid user...initially.... and like PP, would watch TV while rebounding. Now, it has a new function....on it's side, propped against the wall, the legs are great rucksack holders!!!LOL

I'm afraid I've deviated further down the "comfy" road at home, after buying some fleece PJs from Primark....my "prince" is never going to come and "find" me shacked up in my comfy little flat in the oncoming cold, dark winter months....so comfort wins....again!!

Speaking of "bad" men...I too ONCE got entangled with a man who was a greater control freak than I am !!! Ex-SAS!!! What he did to my self-esteem, confidence etc, and how he isolated me from EVERYONE that loved and cared for me .....I just didn't see it, and I can't believe how I let it happen, it was just SO insidious!!! It took me two years till the penny dropped and I managed to get away!!! So Lizzie, I wish you the strength and courage to break the bonds and get away and re-establish your own SELF again, real soon XXX

I hope LL, that you OH is feeling a bit more settled during his respite care, and that you are able to glean back some inner strength and physical well-being....I can't imagine how hard it must be to loose your partner in this way......mine died five weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.

Well girls, here's wishing you all the energy and good vibes that you need towards looking and feeling like your best present to yourselves this Christmas.

Just caught your post MrsWoolfe , before I posted mine, so Happy Diwali to you too. My local park, where I used to live a few years back, held a Diwali festival each year, and it was great fun seeing all the events that took place!

Not much fabbiness going on this week as have a cold virus thing going on and have had a few days off to try and get over it asap. I've been trying to keep within kcal allowance but not always managing it as I've craved more food for the last few days. Today is better though so hopefully its on its way elsewhere now!

While its been sunny I've made myself take the dog for a longer walk to make sure we take advantage of the afternoon sun before all I see is darkness for a few months except weekends! So have walked for an hour and a half a day to make sure I burn off some of the stodgy fat kcals.

Yesterday I had to drag myself to a friends to drop off a birthday card and present and was told again I looked like I had lost weight. No weight loss last week so the final 5lbs is taking some shifting still.

No hair mask or face mask this week so must have a go at this again to renourish my hair and skin but I did buff my nails again this weekend and they look nice.

Not much else to report this week and I hope everyone is coping well with life at the moment as there are a few of us having a rough time at the moment. Big hugs everyone and yes you can get through it and look fab at the other side!

    Hello Everyone

Just a quickie for now. My back is giving me gyp so it's probably best if I don't sit at the desk too long. Sitting always makes it worse. I just need to recline - Roman Orgy style - oo-er missus.

Dosed myself up with painkillers and managed to struggle round ASDA - got new DVD player for Oh so will take that in today. Didn't bother with Flu Jab - feel grotty enough what with back, neck and headaches as it is.

Luckily I have physio booked for tomorrow so hopefully that should iron out a few kinks. What I really need is stretching on the rack.:rotfl:

Some great posts today, ladies. Lovely to hear from you all - even if some of us (nearly all??) are struggling a bit just now. Must be the time of the year.

What is it with these attacks of the munchies - seems to be affecting most of us - is it the cold, the darker nights or just that we're all a bit fed up.

Oh well - let's just do what we can - keep going - we'll get there yet.

Didn't manage the charity shops - had a quick look at knitwear in ASDA - nothing that took my eye. I think I'm just not in the mood for clothes shopping at the moment.

Anyway time to finish putting the shopping away, lunch and then off to see OH.

The house is still a tip - mañana ;)

Tru I bought my rebounder a few years ago, probably from a sports shop. It's called Body Sculpture. PT Rebounder is allegedly the best but I think they cost alot. I wouldn't go for cheap as chips but perhaps mid price range, don't want to be bouncing when a spring goes PING! due to cheap manufacture :rotfl:

LL forgot to say sorry DS didn't get the job. Will send him positive vibes that something better is on it's way :)

Fedup hugs for you, feel better soon xx

Podperson my H is the same. Lots of comments are interpreted as negative, I put it down to his internal self image "filter" it distorts things to be negative as that's how he sees himself. Not saying that's your case just wanted to share xxx

Mrs woolfe well done on the 5lbs :T

Aww, thanks for all the comments about the frock....it IS lovely, but I'm getting cold feet about wearing it now (although I know I'd get cold knees wearing it!!!) as I'm 48 next birthday, and my lower half is nearer a size 14 than 12!

Will spend some time shoe shopping this weekend - just hope I can find some comfy enough that I can walk in :rotfl:
