Hi all
Can I join in?
I am usually pretty good with grooming HOWEVER, due to a very stressful last couple of years ( and things do not seem to be changing for the forseeable future) I have started biting my nails - yuck!!
Please has anyone got any ideas, I will try anything but the 'wear nail polish and you won't bite them'idea as it did not work for me!
Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday afternoon.

LL hope it was all ok at the home, and glad your DS looked after you.
Welcome to all the new joiners!

Hi clare, have you tried any moisturisers to help with the nail biting, I am currently using Neals Yard power berry moisturiser which makes my hands softer, more 'dewy' looking but it also doesn't taste nice at all lol (not that I eat it!) it has acai and goji berry as the main antioxidants which I'm sure some will agree aren't very tasty but very good for you (again, don't eat the cream lol) If you can use a moisturiser like this on your hands and nails I can guarantee you wont be temted to bite
That facial facelift mask sounds lovely LL,popping to do a top up shop tomorrow so will get the ingredients, I am sure they will be hand to have in the cupboard.
Does anyone know a good way to cleanse out blackheads, someone once mentioned using lemon lemon juice to scrub and washing it off after five seconds, but wouldn't want to try it if it will do more harm than good?
A siesta sounds good and a al fresco dinner sounds perfect for this weather, I think we have a cold meatand salad dinner for later.Comping wishlist for 2017

Savvybunny,
Thanks for your advice - feel a trip to Neals Yard is warrented!
Many years ago myself and husband used to have blackheads, however we started using Liz Earles Cleanse and Polish with the muslin cloth and the blackheads disappeared.
We have since then stopped using the cleanser ( I make my own as I am a qualified Aromatherapist) but carried on using the muslin cloths and the blackheads have not returned.
My eldest son is at the age of blackheads and spots but he does not have any. I think, as long as you use a good quality cleanser and a muslin cloth, you will be ok.Lemon juice can be very drying and all citrus oils are photosensitive.

Hi Savvy
Re blackheads (comedones to be posh). Have you tried the oil cleansing method, sorry hopeless at computers - don't know how to do the link but there is a thread on the Health & Beauty section.
Agree with Clare (welcome - aromatherapy is one of my areas too - we can swap notes:j) lemon juice is a bit harsh for the face.
Thought we might do some Skin Specials in the near future - in the meantime a face mask for blackheads and congested skin. This one is easy peasy.
Asprin Face Mask
Crush 6 aspirins into some warm water (about 1 teasp), apply to cleansed skin
Leave 10 mins, rinse off.
That's it.
Obviously avoid eyes and mouth, also any dry sensitive skin.
If you just want to do the T-Zone, centre panel of your face, forehead, nose and chin, 3 aspirins will be enough.
The science bit. Asprins contain salicylic acid, that's why it's best to avoid sensitive areas.
PS Once a week only.
Bye for now x0 -
Ohhh clare I use liz earle as well ... Would be very interested to hear your recipe that you use instead ( have studied aromatherapy myself ... Amongst many other things ) would u be willing to share it ?0

LessonLearned thank you for the face mask recipes. I'm about to head to work for (another) nightshift but have a few days off afterwards and can't wait to try them out:).
Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday x0 -
Many thanks for the warm welcome. Im still working my way through the thread getting to know you all so please forgive me if I dont mention anyone individually at the moment.
So today is so hot here. I have had a lovely shower in my new wet room which is wonderful. I used my expensive shower cream that I normally keep for special occasions but i dont have many of those so thought i would start using it. Its a start xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Thanks for the advice, I have muslin cloths which have been sat in my *ahem* stash of toiletries untouched, I never used them before as I didn't see how they could clean better than a flannel, but as I have them I will give them a go.
I have seemingly everchanging skin, it used to be normal-greasy but I think that had more to do with the products a was using, now its normal to dry. I'm using Nelson's pure range to see if the natural approach works for me. I tried the oil technique and it increased spots. Definately not one for me, I don't have the patience for it.
Well done on starting Molly, I had a habit of not using the 'best' and saving it for a special occassion but sadly some products have still been sitting here years down the line. Have decided to embrace them and enjoy them, why not I say
LL - that's interesting about the salicylic acid in the aspirin mask, I used to buy a product which was supposed to act like a mini facial peel which did my skin wonders but it was expensive for what it was. I am loving your facial mask recipesComping wishlist for 2017

Hello,
I'm back to report a VERY mixed weekend. Friday was a disaster healthy eating wise (approx 3 packets of crisps ), Saturday involved 3/4 of a bottle of red wine (again ) and today involved creamy seafood chowder and crab fish cakes ()
Posture is something I'm struggling to remember to be honest. Have to get much better on that.
Spent €50 in Boots on Saturday, got lots, deoderant, nail varnish remover, cotton wool pads, school foot file (amazing) and Flexitol heel magic and wipe off cleanser. Not very MSE but I do love my Boots splurges and I don't have them very often.
Today though I have done excellent on the grooming! I have cleansed, done a clay mask, exfoliated and applied a few drops of facial oil. Have had a bath with epson salts (anyone know if this goes off? The tub I found was really old!) Full body moisturiser, foot file, foot moisturiser, buffed all 20 nails, applied nail oil on toenails and strengthening treatment on fingernails.
Next week I have a bit of a plan which if I post here I'm hoping it will motivate me to keep to it:
1. Exercise for 30 mins 5 times
2. Floss once a day
3. Going off drink for 2 weeks
4. Facial & eyebrow wax booked for Friday
5. Body brush every day
6. Take my vitamins every day0
