Well just a quickie to let you know that DS2 has been on hand to look after me and I've had a nice long natter with my little sis.

I've been resting on the sofa watching the King Arthur thingy - absolute tosh but fun. Can't even remember tonights story - it must have just washed over me. Followed by Michael McIntryes comedy road show - just what the doctor ordered!!

So no exercise or treatments - does a big glass of red wine and a couple of choccies count as my healthy alternatives for today.:rotfl:

DS2 is just making me some hot milk "to help me sleep" - isn't he a sweetie.

Carmen - so glad you're still 'Alive & Kicking" - was starting to worry about you.

Welcome Savy & Little Boots - LB you are not imposing - glad you are getting over your breakup - they really hurt don't they - just take your time and it'll get better. Savy - there are no rules here, it's not a challenge - we're just a bunch of gals trying to sort ourselves out:D Just go with the flow.

Anyway - the milk has arrived so going to try and sleep now,

    G'night all x

A few days late but I'd like to join in if possible.

Feeling very ordinary at the moment and need a confidence boost so I can give hubby more of the "wow" factor.

At the moment I do no exercise, I don't eat healthily (very often) and I certainly don't give myself any TLC. Drastic changes to be made!

    Good morning all

Managed about 4 hours sleep- not enough - feeling a bit grim. Have had the headache from hell for the past three days and can't shift it. Hardly surprising really.

Anyway going to get my act together, try and eat something, have a nice long soak in the bath and a bit of a pamper. Will go and see OH - just a shortish visit. The nursing home is in the process of being decorated and there is a strong smell of gloss paint - the really nasty cheap "industrial" oil based stuff. Horrible.

Unfortunately I am very allergic to oil based paints - never use them at home - I always use water based eco friendly paint - so I daren't stay too long. I'm hoping it doesn't rain so I can take OH into the home's garden - it's very pretty. He can get some fresh air and I can escape the paint. Will sit and do puzzles or quizzes with him. I'm going early so I can leave early and let him watch the motor racing in peace.

Anyway - Day 5 already. We seem to be doing really well. How are you all feeling - fed up yet or ready for some more.?:rotfl:

Before we move on a quick recap.

Are you sitting comfortably - back straight with your spine nicely supported, shoulders down and relaxed, tummy in - of course you are :D-

So we've done the mirror thing and we're practising our posture whenever we remember - this will take time.

    We're wearing perfume
    We're wearing rubber gloves
We're all taking a few minutes to give ourselves a bit of pampering - ok you are not going to manage a treatment every single day - it doesn't matter - just make little and often your mantra.
Some of us have to started with vitamins

All of these little tweaks have been painless and most have been free or very cheap.

I think the two big ones, the ones which seem the most problematical, are "Grooming" & "Wardrobe Maintenance". Really they are both two sides of the same coin.

They look and sound far more daunting than they really are. (A word about feeling overwhelmed later).

Sorry about the ironing - knew that would raise a few eyebrows. If it's not for you - then leave it off your radar. (Same with the high heels;)

The whole thing about Frump to Fab is that it should be easy, simple, do-able and sustainable over the long term.

Just think of it as a buffet, pick the bits you fancy and leave the rest.

Off to get some caffeine and get cracking.

    Have a good day.

    Hello
I hope you dont mind if I join in with your thread too.
Im just in the process of reading through but have got so motivated that decided I really want to join.

Im still quite young (early 40's) but feel 70 most of the time as I am poorly and its a struggle some days just to get dressed. I have some lovely clothes that I dont wear very often as I have put on a small amount of weight (10 ilbs) but these seems to make a huge difference to the fit of my clothes. I do like to take care of my hair and regularly have it cut and coloured as i went grey overnight when in hospital last christmas. I do use face cream and love a range of natural skincare but again find myself not bothering as it just feels too much.

Im actually going away in a few weeks so it would be lovely to start the process before I go away as I think I will enjoy it more if im nurturing myself a little bit more x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I would really like to join in too, please. I am on day four of my own six month challenge, and when I saw this thread, thought it would be perfect for me. I have weight to lose, but more than that, I really want to start getting physically fit, I have been inactive for so long, I am worried about my health, which is fine at the moment, but my mother recently had a heart attack at the age of 57 which terrifies me. I have neglected me for far too long, and its time it stopped.

I look forward to getting to know those of you I haven't "met" before. :)

Good morning all. Looks like the predicted scorcher is here so must increase my water intake today.
Planning to do some gardening as exercise and to think about routines I need to get into. I think top of the list is reinstating vitamins.

Hope everyone has a fab Sunday

Morning all, since having my daughter I haven't had as much time to spend on me, used to do hair and makeup everyday, wear heels and lovely clothes. Seems to have gone to put in the last yar, as ineveitably it does with toddlers in the house. I came across this thread whilst trying to find something to help give me a bit of motivation, guidance and direction toward a whole new me.

So far I have changed my toothpaste with a whitening toothpaste that has bicarb in it (the difference is noticeable already after four days use) sorted my eyebrows, shaped my nails, started with a new skincare routine, inc cleansing, toning, night cream with a scrub once a week (the difference is starting to show) I moisturise my hands before going to sleep too. I feel a little more 'well groomed'

I have set aside either tuesday or wednesday night each week for constuctive pampering whether that be a face mask and paint my nails or attemping the full body tan. This week coming I am going to be doing a french tip pedicure. I seem to feel much more lady like with beautiful feet and it's time I braved the epilator again, it's time to get those legs out in those gorgeous heels :)

glad your having a pampering time LL oh and not forgetting the obligatory glass of wine ... hey all newbies to the thread glad your all here

well thats me just up again ... went to my bed last night at 11pm absolutely shattered.com .. but there i was 5 am still trying to fall over ... this is very common for me tbh but it is so exhausting ... i cant sleep due to the pain i am in and as i dont like to take painkillers unless i really need to i refuse to take them before bed ... when things get really bad i take a piriton ( but will no longer be taking them due to the new stuff that is coming out about them) or i take an amytriptaline but they knock me out for 24 hours so i only take them in case of emergency maybe if i havnt slept for a month or so

anyway i am up ... i am going to have a coffee then i have a friend coming over for a visit ....so wont do shred till later but i am going to do it .... my blisters are looking sore ( thanks high heels) sounds grim eh lol ... it's not all bad most of it is good i am liking this new change and i am enjoying it ... but LL is totally right we need to do what is right for us ... i know i am going to struggle with the whole ironing thing and i know that i will rarely wear my heels ( but i will wear them occasionally) and i think i need to cut back on my makeup ... but i am enjoying the changes

anyway off for my one coffee of the day and maybe a bit of breakfast ... have a good day all

    Hi I'm back

Just got back from the nursing home & shall now have a little rest.

It's like a furnace outside. Just a reminder - only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun.

You should avoid full sun between 12 and 3 - unless of course you want skin like an old crocodiles.:rotfl: I shall have a nice little potter in the garden later when it's cooler.

In fact I have plans to eat my evening meal al fresco tonight, then as the evening cools light the new chimenea (spelling??), glass of wine and a good book. Bliss.

In a minute I will have a nice light cold meats and olives kind of lunch with the Sunday papers then a little siesta - I'm shattered.

Anyway - hello newbies and welcome:)

Jackie sorry to hear about your mum - yes that is young - hope she is ok. I'm very pleased to say that since starting Frump to Fab I'm getting much healthier. A recent check up showed that my cholesterol count had come down quite a bit - so to any doubters who might think we are just a bunch of silly vain women - it isn't just about looking pretty (that's nice though) there are some very positive health benefits too.

Molly - hopefully you will reap those benefits too. Just give it your best shot - doing what you can, when you can. Go at your own pace.

Savvy - cracking start - bet you are starting to feel fab already.

    Thought I'd post up today's treatment - I think you'll like this

    Facelift Face Mask

Yes really, ok not as good as surgery:eek: - not for me thanks. But I promise you it will make your face looked toned, healthy and slightly "lifted"

2 teasp gram flour (also known as chickpea flour)
    2 teasp runny honey
tiny bit of warm water to mix

Apply to cleansed skin, leave for 10 mins - only use once a week.

You can buy gram flour from the world food isles in most supermarkets - should come in under £1, lasts ages

    Enjoy
