Thank you for the nice welcome
1 of the reasons I lurk is because I get so stressed about mentioning everyone in my posts - such as: Well done on so & so whoever etc etc
Used to post in the wonderful 5 pleasures on OS but gave up as I just couldn't cope with having to paste/copy other peoples posts into Word (so I'd remember what to comment on) then writing it all on here...........it used to take me over an hour sometimes as I'd type it all out and didn't realise I'd lose it if it 'timed out' and would have to do it all again!:(
Makes me feelbecause people like LL (and othrs) have such a lot to cope with and STILL manage to do it.
Anyway, all showered (Lancome Tresor - always thought it to be an 'oldfashioned 1, but it's lovely!) and shaved.......perfume on (Tresor)........hair done........eyeliner/mascara/lipgloss on. Been out in garden all morning and just having lunch of tomato & lentil soup with lardons, Yummy!
My goal for this week is to get back into drinking lots of water.

Dolly don't worry about having to acknowledge everyone, just a general hello is fine for meI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Hello Dolly (sorry couldn't resist)
Don't worry about having to acknowledge everyone and make individual replies (That applies to anyone else who is lurking for the same reason:)
Just pop in and say hello, give us a heads up on what you're doing, any tips etc and just generally chip in with your two penniesworth.
It's just nice to hear from you all.
Don't mind me - I'm just one of life's natural "chatterboxes" - got me in no end of trouble when I was at school.:rotfl:
I love Tresor too although as I've got older it's a bit too heavy for me. I've found that I now find it easier to wear some of the "lighter" fragrances because the richer/heavier ones give me a headache. A shame really because there are a lot of old favourites I can no longer wear.
Hoping for an early (ish) night. x0 -
Not a good day today, the only shopping in is...pizzas, crisps, bread, ham, ryvita, pasta, pasta sauce, custard and jamaican ginger cake. So all I can eat is pasta and ham on ryvita and we're running low on ham! Oh and peanut M & Ms which my OH keeps offering me....He's really not helping!Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0

Another echo to dolly about needing to do mutiple thanks. It really doesn't matter but I do understand why you should feel like that. I think that's a common issue about 'talking' to virtual friends. Normally people would be included with eye contact but we don't have that here. Everyone is in the same position. Just chat away dolly and don't worry about it.
An update about me: my back/shoulder is still very sore. I went to the doctor yesterday and got on first name trems with the receptionist. She said the doctor would see me within 30 mins and meantime I was pacing about every time a stab of pain came. I think she felt really sorry for me:(
Doctor prescribed amitryptyline which, I know, is often used as an anti-depressant. For me she is using it as a nerve relaxant but it did mean I had the best sleep in months last night. I'm totally drugged up at the moment what wth co-codamol, ibuprofen and now the amitryptyline...
The dress came from ASOS and it's really nice. Although I think more suitalbe for the evening party rather than the wedding . It's synthetic, but it has the feel/look of somewhere in between a jersey and a gabardine farbic. I ordered a 12/14 but will definitely be keeping the larger size as it seemd like the shape of the 12 flattened ny bust.
I've also had a idle look at fascinators today as I walked through Debenhams. There are loads to choose from and they looked good even with me suffering and looking washed out.
Did manage a shower. slathering, hair and make up today but not much other motivation.0 -
Good afternoon everyone
Hope you are all ok.
Maman Ouch that sounds so painful. Hope your cocktail of painkillers start to take the edge off soon.
Re the amitryptyline - I have to take this from time to time - for my teeth and facial pain. (Its not tri-geminal neuralgia thank goodness).
As I've said before, my teeth are the bane of my life. To cut a long story short - the maxillo-facial specialist prescribed it to reduce the inflammation and calm down the nerve endings. Worked like a dream.
I also suffer from baro-dontalgia (told you my teeth are a nightmare). Bascially this is something you can get when flying. It's to do with pressure when above 33,000 feet above sea level. Apparently it was first discovered when pilots suffered during WW2.
The pain is excruciating. These days cabin pressures are supposed to be equalised and stabilised and baro-dontalgia shouldn't happen. Trust me. I was lucky the specialist knew about it - not many have ever come across it. I was his second case in a 30 year career!! He seemed positively gleeful.
Fingers crossed if I take amitrypyline 14 days before I fly I seem to be ok. Since I developed this problem, a few years ago, I've only taken short haul flights - I'm really quite nervous about trying long haul again.
TBH it's put me off air travel full stop. I always get very nervous now - just in case I get a flare up - once your'e up there theres no turning back. :rotfl:
Sometimes I'm tempted to have the whole lot out:eek:, although I've been told that there would be no guarantee that the facial nerve pain would magically disappear.
Anyway enough about me. Maman I do hope the pain subsides soon, you have my utmost sympathy. Take it easy.
Glad you like the dress.:) Even if you don't wear it for the wedding it will come in useful for the forthcoming festive season.
Which reminds me - how are we all doing. Time to get ready for all those parties, Christmas do's etc:rotfl: Onwards and upwards.
I've been deliberately trying to wash my hair less often. I was doing it every day which was a bit too much I think. Now unless I'm doing anything special or if it really needs it I'm doing it every other day.
Today it's been 3 days but because I'm just having a gardening and pottering day I've left it. It looks just fine. Which is more than can be said for my hands:eek:
So tonight's treatment will be a nice manicure - avoiding all the cuts and thorns.:rotfl:
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. It's still warm and dry here - bit overcast - so off to do some more garden tidying before the weather breaks.
By the way found three good sized cauliflowers in my veg patch - perhaps Llamas don't like them - also three brussel plants which they obviously can't reach.
I can hear all the lawnmowers, hedge trimmers etc - sounds like half the street have the same idea.:rotfl:
Bye for now x0 -
Hi Everyone,
Just back from my mini break.
Very hectic trying to fit everyone in but managed to see nearly all the family and friends
I am going to have a nice cup of coffee and read what you lot have been up to
Back soon.0 -
morning everyone.
hope everyone had a good weekend and no-one has blown away yet in that wind!!
I've managed to give myself and nice sunshine yellow on my toenails, and a lovely burgundy on my fingernails. Because I've been stressed recently I've been biting my nails so they're quite short, but I know wearing nail polish stops me biting them so have to make more of an effort. I've not painted my nails in ages because it stops me knitting til they dry and that annoys me!
LL I've also stopped washing my hair every day, I've it down to every other day right now. At times I could probably leave it another day but I hate my hair being even slightly greasy, so it's something to aim for in time. My roots get greasy so I always washed it every day - for years and years - but now on every other day I wonder why I didn't try this sooner.
At first I did have to use dry shampoo and so on, but my hair has gotten used to it, which is good.carpe diem

Tomorrow will be 12 weeks until my due date. I'm exhausted today, I'm regularly sleeping for 10 hours and my weight is going up dramatically (3lb in 3 days, and that's with me eating slightly less than normal). I'm going to try moving around more and seeing if that helps my energy levels - if not, then I have a feeling that my thyroxine dose may need to be upped.HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69

Phoenix,as you've still got quite a long time to go, if you're not feeling right then ask at the clinic/doctor. Obviously, the thyroid or just the increased weight could both be making you feel tired but it's best to check. Well done on avoiding 'eating for two', you'll be so pleased afterwards. I know mothers of teenagers who still have 'baby-weight' to lose.:rotfl:
My back's quite a bit better today but I'm almost scared to say so unless the pain returns with a vengeance:( I ended up calling the out of hours doctor for advice yesterday. The amitrypteline were fantastic at night. I slept wonderfully but in the day when the effect wore off the agony returned! Was told that I could take some during the day too but beware of getting drowsy. I'd rather be drowsy than in pain so no contest!
I'm another 'every other day' person as far as my hair is concerned. I sometimes skip the odd extra day too if I'm not going to be seen in public! I've made an effort today with hair, skin all slathered and feet creamed. Felt much more motivated as back pain was so draining the past few days. I'm also counting my healthy eating as part of my fabness. I was pleased that I dragged myself off to do a food shop and cooked when I got home on Friday so that we could have proper meals. It would have been so easy to send DH to the chippy!
My nails are really short at the moment too bratz. That's because it was safer to cut them than risk breaking one badly when helping DD1 with her house move.
What is it you knit bratz? I did some last winter and really enjoyed myself, I could do with a new project.
Sorry this has been a bit of a 'me, me' post but it's the first day I've felt like doing more than absolute essentials so good to check in.0
