Lovely dress willow and for what it's worth I think if they added heels to slippers they'd sell like hot cakesI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Hello Ladies
What a lovely dress Willow - very versatile too, you'll be able to wear it to all sorts of places and it will look "right".
The slippers look nice and cosy too. Like Maman I must get some new slippers, my kitchen floor gets very cold in winter. I always put a rug down by the sink and cooker - helps a lot.
Thank you for all your kind words and encouragement - you are all very thoughtful. Thanks for that link Skymist - it made interesting reading and lots of good tips there too.
I have to admit I was shocked to see just how many stress symptoms I could tick off that list. Made me realise I need to start taking a bit more care.
Anyway today has been a bit better, managed to reduce the wheat based carbs - didn't attempt to just cut them out completely because I thought that would be too drastic.
I have started drinking camomile & honey tea again, it's quite pleasant and soothing and used some lavender oils to help me relax.
The chest pains are much easier too. I still look very tired and strained and havent managed any beauty treatments. I did have a nice long soak in the bath this morning and did at least wash and style my hiair. It's a start.
I did a big supermarket shop this morning (spent a small fortune).
I've stocked my cupboards and freezer so no more supermarkets for the rest of the month - just local market for fruit and veg. milk etc.
Bought lots of fruit and veg today so no excuse now for not eating healthily. Also managed to clear the ironing pile.:D
Anyway going to pop off to bed now - got a busy day tomorrow - appt with OH's consultant. It involves a 30 mile round trip, the usual scrabble for car parking and probably a fair amount of hanging around. I can more or less write the rest of the day off.
BTW - read an interesting piece in the Daily Mail today> It was saying how September is a far better month for making new resolutions/lifestyle changes etc - apparently the prospects for successful change are much better than doing it in January.
So ladies - about 15 weeks to Christmas - shoulder to the wheel, nose to the grindstone and all that.;)
G'night all x0 -
Aaaand what do I do for shoes? I can't wear certain types of shoes coz I have a scar on the back of my left foot which gets really sore if shoes rub it. I also have trouble with heels any higher than a couple of inches and those pump shoes thingies... Weirdly my the back of my feet are kinda thin so I have real trouble keeping the pumps on! Is there much left?Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0

I think'll it just have to be the slippers willow:rotfl:
What sort of shoes can you wear? There are lots of different types of pumps around and pleasingly I've noticed some with a small heel appearing, the very flat ones make me feel I'm tipping backwards. Heels would look good, just as high as you can manage. You definitely need tights, opaque but not too thick, and some sort of shrug. I think you could take a bright jewel colour to set off the black. Just looked properly and you seem to have a nice purple one:o Do you wear earrings? Wear your hair up?
Glad you're sounding a bit perkier LL, you've achieived a lot today what with the big shop and the ironing and sorting out your eating. So if tomorrow you only manage OH's appointment, so what!
I got really miserable this evening and I'm sure it's just the weather. Strangely I don't suffer from SAD in the winter. It's as if poor weather in the winter is par for the course but having summer without sun I feel so cheated. Hopefully there'll be a few rays left when I go away in a couple of weeks. Anyhow, dragged myself off to my dancing class and really enjoyed it so now feeling much brighter.

Shoe boots? That way you can put some kind of cushioned plaster on it and still have a little bit of a heel. I can't wear very high heels (I look like a bloke in drag trying to walk in them :rotfl:) but I got a lovely black suede pair a couple of years ago from Faith i think. The heel is about 2 inches. You can still wear tights with them thenIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Really pretty dress Willow - I would wear with opaque tights in a nice bright colour and maybe a little shrug to match. Regarding shoes, as poles says boots with a heel might be an idea or wedges are often easier to walk in I find.
LL - glad you're feeling a bit brighter hun x
Am debating today as I saw a portrait class advertised online, rang up and it's at a local college and starts this Monday so very short notice (especially as I'm away this weekend!). Am a little torn now as I originally thought I couldn't afford it but apparently I get a discount for being on wtc if I go down and register in person. Hmm so would need to go after work either today or tomorrow. I do quite fancy it but have my next OU course starting in about a month and don't want to take too much on at once as then I'm liable to struggle with all of it
Got very little done last night, was going to have a long shower and do some of my beauty bits but was OH's first day back at uni and he had some friends round so didn't want to clog up the bathroom all night with guests inSat in with them a bit as I did say to OH would make an effort with his friends new gf - she didn't seem as annoying as usual but she was full of a cold and was really not covering her mouth much when she was coughing etc. Really hoping I don't get ill now just before I go away for the weekend  Had my vitamin C tablet and some First Defence before I went to bed lol.

podperson, have you tried Zinc+Vitamin C lozenges?........from Holland and Barrett, 60 lozenges for £3.19.....
http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=201&prodid=614&cid=213&sid=0
They've worked for me, and as winter approaches, I tend to start taking them each day, as a preventative measure.....and I haven't had a cold or flu for years, even when mixing with people like your OH's uni friend's (inconsiderate!) new gf!!!!
Some resent findings on this:-

Hope you caught it (the potential cold)...and chucked it .....in time!!

Well ladies - 10 weeks today since we started our journey. How are we all feeling/doing.
I've noticed a few of the earlier posters no longer keep in touch - if you're still lurking out there - hope you are all ok and keeping the faith.
If not well never mind - just take it as it comes - do what you can when you can - take care of yourselves.
Are we in need of a bit of motivation.
Well what can I say - just keep going - take your cue from Maman
I know Maman found it tough at times - but she just kept at it and got there in the end. An inspiration to all us all and a clear demonstration of Persistance Paying Off.
Chasing Rainbows
Sometimes I cannot help but feel that all these hospital appts/consultatons with the medics, treatments, scans etc are utterly pointless. We are simply chasing rainbows, searching for the Holy Grail that will cure him.
Consultant has decided to refer OH to another colleague who is based in Sheffield and whose speciality is Cerebellar Ataxia - CA which is gluten intolerant and the genetic CA's.
For those new to the thread that is OH's "Working Diagnosis". It is by no means definitive because saying someone has CA is like saying you have Arthritis - it's just another umbrella term.
Gluten CA has been ruled out and OH's consultant is pretty certain that his CA is not genetic (I hope to God not - the implications for our boys are simply too ghastly to even contemplate - I refuse to go there).
Anyway on the basis that two heads are better than one, we'll give it a whirl. We are also going to go back to IV Steroids - which will at least build him up a little, restart physio and some kind of new "wonder drug" - hmmmn to match the other wonder drug he is currently taking and which appears to achieve little. That's not fair - it probably does slow down the rate of deterioration.
Sorry if I sound a little sceptical but it has been 5 long years now and still no definitive diagnosis, just trying new things to try and alleviate his symptoms.
Still if the rainbows are there - then the least we can do is keep chasing them......................
So having spent hours at the hospital, not much done today - either fabwise, projects or even basic housework. Dinner was a fish and chip supper - delicious but not exactly good for the diet.......Oh well, can't be helped.
