    Morning All:hello:

Hope all is well with Old Stylers everywhere?

Haven't been around this board too much lately, been over on the Christmas board & reading my Thrifty Ways book:D Anyway, all has been well in the house of Lillibet, Christmas preperations pretty much complete (apart from the 2 outstanding presents which STILL haven't been delivered:mad:) and the final food shop which I think I will do tomorrow or Thursday.

Got friends comming for dinner tonight, got a beef burginion (sp?) in the SC already so just general tidying & light house work to be done, then it's back to the knitting : I have my sons (and my first knitted) Christmas day tank top to finish:eek: & his Christmas stocking:eek::eek: as I wasn't at all happy with my first effort (I refined it on my friend's babys' stocking so know what size I am aiming for now).

Hope everyone has a good day:wave:

  • Good morning everyone. :hello:

Its very cold here in County Antrim. Quite a lot of frost where we live in Carrickfergus

Well we have posted all of our Xmas cards and done nearly all of our shopping. We always give a modest present (tin of biscuits or box of sweets) to the friendly, helpful staff in our local library and the reliable mechanic who has taken car of my various cars over the years. We always like to show our appreciation and I think in cases like this giving without receiving reflects the true spirit of Christmas.

Hope everyone has a good day

  • Morning Guys!

Havent had chance to read through, but hope everyone is ok and hugs to you all:D

DD finishes at lunchtime today, so no more peace and quiet for the next 2 weeks.

WM is on, DW is on and toilet has been cleaned. OH is connecting the teddy cabinets to a timer so they come on in the evening but just for 3 hrs as Im pretty sure they will be dear to run, but look so pretty. Since putting the curtains up, its so bloomin dark in the lounge and we have a main light which is really bright and a standard lamp (low watt bulb) on 24/7. This doesnt seem to be enough light, so the cabinets should sort this problem out! Fingers X'd!

Had a bit of an emotional day yesterday. Had to go to Kings College hospital to see one of the consultants. He is a lovely man and is always emailing me and calls to make sure im ok. I thought this was because he was just like that, but he actually told me yesterday that these last 12 months had been very touch and go with my health and at one point thought he could not help me. This particular consultant deals mainly in metabolic stuff. I knew I was ill, but didnt know to what extent till he explained in deatil some stuff yesterday. Apparently Im lucky to be here:eek:    I am improving though within this part of my health, but unfortunately my SLE and other bits is making other stuff worse...I cant win! I just wanted to share this with you:D I maybe ill, but Im shouldnt die anytime soon because of it:j :j :j :j Thanks for all your continued support and kindness.

Anyway, better go. Hugs to all

    Good morning everyone!
Today I reclaim my desk :D

For some weeks now any cuppa had at the desk has been perched rather precariously on top of numerouse items that seemed to have found a new home on my desk. A cluttered desk = a cluttered mind, so there's no wonder I can see the way forward re finances and meal planning is a nightmare.
By the end of the day I'll have a desk that even Moggins would be proud of!

Thank you to everyone yesterday for their congrats on my 1000th post - I dread to think how many words I've posted as those who know me well know that 'to the point' is not my forte.... I much prefer the 'over the garden fence' ;) I didn't get chance to read all of yesterdays posts I'm afraid - the lovely Christams lunch wiped me out so I slept for most of the evening. The best bit of the meal was a homemade roast pepper soup (divine) and that the mince pies at the end were obviously homemade (yum) The bread was also homemade - but I think they need a few tips from you guys (to say the least, lol)
Again not had chance to read all the posts - but I really should focus on clearing this desk, planning my christmas dinner (I can't believe it's next week!) and if there's any time before I'm due into college (supposed to be off now, but going in to help) having a think about my finances (yikes)
    Hugs to everyone that needs,
    Love,
    Kaz x

  • Good morning everybody :hello:

Read through the thread on Saturday afternoon but didn't have time to post (was on laptop on local library's wi-fi and it was nearly closing time) so must wish a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Nelski and give a great big ((((hug)))) to joannasmum.

Well I've been super-busy over the past couple of days. dlb, you're not the only one who's paying through the nose for being disorganised about the Christmas post - I've had to shell out for first-class stamps for all my cards and I dread to think how much it is going to cost to post my brother's present - it isn't heavy but it's quite big. I have it in a large carrier bag under my desk and will go to the Post Office with it later today.

I wasn't in the office yesterday as I was running a community action project for a lot of the managers from work, a sort of Challenge Anneka styleee thing to repaint a local community centre. I couldn't believe how well it went - I was expecting a clash of ideas and personalities, but they worked really well together! - and what's more I got a little thankyou present from the managers for organising it - a CD (they managed to pick one I would actually listen to!) and some very posh expensive chocolates, over half of which have already been, um, enjoyed :D

This lunchtime I might go to Southwark Cathedral, where the Dean gives a lunchtime carol service every year for local office workers. And tonight I'm off to the Royal Opera House tonight to see their new production of Carmen - I have a standing ticket, brilliant view, £12 :D Must remember to drop into the Covent Garden Whisky Shop on the way, as I have promised my brother that I will buy a Christmas present from him to my dad as there's 300 miles between them, which has also given me the excuse to get my dad to take me out for dinner tomorrow evening :D

    Must go, see you later

    Love Rzl xx

    :santa2: Morning!

Cold and frosty here! Brrrr! Cat is laying seige to the fireplace again, she definately feels she has first dabs on fire and radiator:rolleyes:

I have to go and cover the marzipaned and brandied cherries in a minute and will probably have to taste test!:D

Must go wrap some more pressies, just want it done now so I can relax a bit.

PP - Well done on coming through such a difficult year, you are obviously quite a fighter ((((Hugs))))

Kaz - When you have found your desk could you point me in the direction of mine?

Decoration for today - day 19 is a star made from twigs and covered with glitter.

Just think in 1 weeks time it will all be over!:rudolf:

  • :santa2: Morning :santa2:

((hugs)) to everyone, cos I'm feeling happy :D

My boys don't finish till Friday lunch time (yaaaay) so I still have a few days to get stuff sorted. Mind you, it's DS2's nativity today .... he's being a horse :rotfl: I stood outside his bedroom door last night listening to him sing "Away in a Manger" to himself. Awwwwwww :D But apparently, baby Jesus lays down his sweet hay :rotfl:

    Jobs for this morning:
I have to go to the post office and post 8 ebay parcels, including one to Greece so need to sort out all the customs form and suchlike :(
    Clean kitchen properly
    Clean bathrooms properly
General run round and tidy everywhere else
Get all pressies out from their various hiding places and make sure I have everyting and the boys have the same number of gifts.
    Laundry (as usual)
    Change our bed

Also need to try and sort my back out - woke up with sciatica, albeit mild atm. Don't know what I've done to get that, although I was in and out of my mum's loft yesterday taking boxes and cases up and down, so that could be the culprit!

Right, need to think about what's for tea. Quite fancy a steak casserole so best get some out of the freezer Pdq :D

    Have a good day everyone

  • Good morning everyone,

Well only 3 more days at work until I finish up on Friday evening and boy do I need it. I don't think I've ever been so tired in all my life. I'm so looking forward to getting some energy back soon as these past few weeks, my life has really suffered by me not being as on top of things as usual.

My Christmas tree is up, my cards are nearly all sent (does anyone else always end up with that odd few that they wrote with good intentions but never get round to delivering or finding the address for?) and I just have to make up a couple of hampers for female relatives. I haven't got a second present for my OH yet or anything for my dad but I'm not too worried - I'll get something over the weekend. On Friday I'm going to do a big tidy and clean, on Saturday I'll probably do the food shopping and butcher collection, then we've got carols in the village and friends over on Sunday. However, it's horrible to be wishing away Christmas and all my holidays from work - but I am - my first scan is on 8th Jan and I am just counting the hours, seriously.

PP - Shocking to hear, but here's to a much better and healthier 2007!

    Love

    Valentine xxx
