OS Tuesday 19th December

:hello: Morning everyone,
Today is my first Old Style anniversary :beer: It was one year ago exactly that I made my first post - something about red cabbage as I recall I can't imagine life without this board now, who else is interested in red cabbage ? Btw I spent yesterday morning making a huge casserole of braised red cabbage and apples for the freezer. Some of it will be brought out to serve with my Christmas goose.

Today OH has gone to work (following broken collarbone incident), he has managed to get a lift to Brum from a colleague. So today I'm planning a quiet day in the kitchen doing some baking. I'm making lots of florentines (with white choc and dark choc), a chocolate log without eggs for dd which I'm filling with choc buttercream and freezing. I'm also going to thread choc coins to hang on the tree which we're putting up after school tomorrow. must also wrap ds1's present (done all the rest). Might make some mince pies too.

Last night OH and I sampled the quince vodka and the damson gin. Fabulous, especially the vodka as it was much better than last year's. Got a bit of a headache this morning.

Oh, and I must hunt about for some oasis for the huge bunch of holly my mum has given me.

Really must get the thriftlings some breakfast now . see you later.

DED2 was a king last nite in her last junior school play and very good she was too had a nice time met up with some mums who i dont see very often but are good fun and we were saying how all our kids were going to different schools and not staying at the local one to the juniors
DD2 has her class party today she had to supply sweets:eek: so goodness knows how hyper they will all be today when i collect her
Off to have coffee with my mum at the garden centre then back to wrap the last stocking :j
WM TD and DW on will walk dog in a mo then off to school

Good morning everyone,

My 2 have got their school christmas party today, they have to go to school in their school uniform, and take clothes to change into at lunchtime (infants can go in their party clothes, why they wont let the juniors, i will never know!!!) so still trying to get DD up, to pick her clothes, cos whatever i pick will be wrong!!!
Have my normal little one here today, plus 2 older ones (across the bridge they have already broken up for xmas) so that will be nice as i only see them during holidays. I have a gingerbread house they can make and take home (they are sisters) so will help them do that later - should be interesting!!!
Not much else going on here at the mo, so maybe check in later.

Morning all!

I woke up again this morning with OH to ease him into his new early start job, it seems he is much more compliant at waking up and getting ready for work when all he has to do is get dressed and washed - I get his bag & lunch ready and send him out of the door fully coffee and juiced up. Its quite nice to play housewife though!

Anyway, todays plans involve doing everything I can to stay awake through the day as yesterday I took a crafty nap for an hour on the sofa at lunchtime. I figure I wasnt busy enough! I did manage to get some cleaning done though and fishtank is now sparkly clean. Today I need to do laundry and ironing so I might put some music on and go for a full clean just to keep busy. If I have time ill treat myself to a long relaxing bath and maybe watch a movie or something.

I do feel like I should be using my time off to do something more productive though, maybe I should start writing a book or something! Right, time to get on with unloading the washer - have a good day all!

Good Morning All

Havnt caught up with the thread over the last couple of days so hope everyone is well.

Set my alarm earlier & got up at 5 this morning, it was freezing. Bit have done a lot in the office already. Would like to think I could do this everyday but I know it wouldnt last.

Have finished all my Xmas cards my least favourite Xmas job so that is good. Plan of action today is take DS to school then DD to Orthodontist to pick up her braces, its half hour each way. Have agreed that she can have the day off today so hopefully she will be happy. Will set her up with wrapping her friends presents and OH will wrap his family's today. Finished last bits of XMas shopping yesterday at Lakeside & there were loads of people just starting - mad mad people. WHilst they are wrapping will try and get as much done in the office as possible.

No idea what we are having for dinner tonight and both the ironing pile and washing pile are mountains but that will get done tomorrow. No more horseriding before Xmas so hopefully no chance of falling on my head again and putting myself out of action!...lol.

Anyway best get on - DS packed lunch needs to be made.

It's cold here today but I'm not complaining. So long as its dry, I don't mind cold weather.

Day off today so I have to go into school and do the last 100 Club draw of this year. :j Then I have to go into town to pick up DS's leather jacket that is his main pressie this year. Must go to the library to return some books and pick up enough books to see me through the Christmas holidays. I have a feeling that I will also buy a little something for myself. Then its off to the supermarket to do a top-up shop.

DD's Christmas party today. She has to take a bottle of juice in. XDH has bought her "full-fat" Tango! :eek: :eek: :eek: How many parents will end up cursing him I wonder? DS has to buy a "secret Santa" present for someone in his form class. He bought the most awkward shaped box of choccies then left them for me to wrap up. :rolleyes:

Wanty I have been fighting the same battle this year. DD is in Y6 for heaven's sake. The girl who keeps infecting everyone readily admits it and apologises to everyone. I feel quite sorry for her. It's obvious her parents are doing the same quick brush through.

Going to send an email to my aunt who lives in South Africa in a min, she has got Motor neuron disese, and doesnt have long left, she is not starting to lose the use of her throat, hopefully she will make it past the new year. I havent seen her since I was a baby, so I am going to send some photos over say hi.

Sorry to hear of your poor aunt. It's a cruel disease.


Anniebooklover good news, I managed to get a bike, got it delivered today off ebay, for £31 and its a smashing bike, he is going to love it.

That's great news. I wondered how you got on. Bargain price too!!

Morning all

No frost here this morning - boy was it chilly yesterday morning - was lovely to see the garden covered in a frosty blanket though.

Popped to town yesterday with DD's to the market for a wander and went to pizza hut for lunch then came home and fell asleep on the sofa for 2 hours and woke up with a full blown head cold (how does that happen???) Feeling a little groggy this morning but nothing that a few paracetamol can't knock on the head.

Need to do a swish round the bathroom, a swish of the living room floor and there's 1 load of whites to do then I must attack the ironing pile before we go to the cinema for the afternoon. Also need to clean the parrot out - she layed an egg on Saturday, the resulting mess needs sorting - she's trying to lay another so some nice clean bedding to make a nest from will keep her busy.

My last 2 pressies arrived from Amazon yesterday - just waiting for an oppertune moment to get them wrapped and stored with the others.

Morning!

Feeling awful this morning - got a thumping headache and feel sick, cant face breakfast.Would still be in bed if I could but have to get DS2 off to school and then take DS1 to the dentist for a root filling:eek:


We've had the post mortem on my resident and he died from a massive epileptic seizure.The funeral is next wednesday.

Better get a move on and get DS1 up. Hopefully I'll feel better as the day goes on.

Morning All - Hope we are well

Thumper (the rabbit) survived the night again. Bless Him. Could see last night he was trying to hold his head up when I was feeding him. But rest of his body his still floppy. Think Im going to go beyond the 48hrs as advised.
So finger's crossed for another day!

Tried to get more washing done last night, uniforms ironed, pach up's done, but Im afraid OS has totally gone out of the window.

Kids break up today, they both had their Xmas parties yesterdays, and they've got parties tonight at cubs/scouts.

OH had a moan at me last night, for spending my evenings on here! and not spending time with him, as a couple talking etc, So, I stayed off it - then he had the nerve to browse thru ebay for a cheap car! I said "if you wanted to use the pc, all you had to do was ask - and not moan!" :mad:

Right, best be off, get kids and myself organised, then give bunny his breakfast.

Morning Everyone

Early start for me, poor OH has had a lump on his back now for a few weeks and it suddenly seems to have doubled in size and is agony for him. He couldn't get comfortable last night poor lamb. He's seeing the doctor today and I'm hoping it'll be something minor and he can give him something to make him comfortable. He seems quite worried so I'm trying to keep him positive and have told him whatever it is, we'll deal with it.

Anyhoo, I'm at w*** all day but have left OH some lunch in the fridge and told him to ring me if he needs anything and I'll finish early. I'm meant to be meeting a friend after work and will hopefully be able to do so, albeit briefly to hand over her pressie & card.

L - Just bought a sarnie from the garage which I'm sure will be foul
D - At friend's if OH doesn't need me
