do you have the figures to prove that or are you just lying?

    It's quite simple:
    Seller says collection only
Buyer wants to send somebody to collect. This somebody happens to be a courier
Seller says 'no problem, you can collect in the evenings after 6pm when i get home from work'

So the buyer has to sort a courier who can collect when the seller is available or they have to pull out of the sale and risk getting the none paying bidder mark.

I'm really glad I don't know any of you in real life as some of you are the most awkward 'people' I've ever come across especially on the eBay section.

As the buyer the OP referred to is objecting to £9.72 for sending this collection item through RM, which will mean the seller packaging the item & taking it to the post office, I would like to see how they would react to the charges a courier who would collect in the evening would cost, as this probably wouldn't be an ordinary parcel courier.
It would be brilliant if you would share with us the name & website of the couriers you use, who collect to order at a stated time & after 6pm. Do you know if they also wrap the items or is that a freebie extra that the seller throws in & do they pay for item on collection?
Your help would be appreciated by many of us I'm sure.

no, you need to learn what collection means.

The OP has already stated they'd deliver for £x so they can be packaged.
If the sale was 'cash on collection only' then the courier would need to being cash. If the advert is advertised as cash on collection only then you can argue over it.

You can request that a courier collects morning, afternoon or evening. You can even request that the likes or Home Delivery Network will delivery in the morning, evening, afternoon and even avoiding the school run.
Or private couriers will collect at a specified time.

The point still is; collection means that the parcel is collected. If you want them to collect it themselves then you tell them that you won't accept it being collected by a courier or you stipulate cash on collection as the payment.
'collection' doesn't just mean that the person buying is the person who collects and not 'somebody' on behalf of the buyer.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but I thought even if you put this on the listing you could not insist the buyer pay this way and have to accept paypal if thats what the buyer wants?

You can do what you want with your own stuff.

Paypal insist all items have proof of delivery - this makes accepting paypal for collection an unacceptable risk.

    thats not a specific time
its a massive chasm of hours
even then its not guaranteed they can make it in that time
not quite the same as "i'll be there at 10 to collect"
    theres nothing to argue over
Im not wasting hours waiting on a courier
if i wanted to do that then the option would be in the listing
  • If you really must have a courier, myhermes may be of use as they will collect from a safe place! try recommending them to your buyer as it will keep both of you happy, as they are also quite cheap!

:xmassign: (well it is over half way through the year so tesco will probably start stocking christmas stuff any day now)

what would you do if the buyer supplied a false shipping number?
    or the item went missing?
a dodgy area to be in

Say to them that as soon as it's collected it's out of your hands as it has been collected!
