PC World will pricematch even from the internet

I went to Jessops to buy a canon ixus 60 today
online they were showing their price was £199.99 but I'd found a website selling for £145, went in armed with a printout of price ready to ask for a pricematch plus 10% of difference as advertised, to find they no longer sell this camera
wandered in to PC World and asked if they had one in stock and they said, yes and it's £199, I said that sounds a bit dear and the man there said 'well if you can find it cheaper anywhere else even online, print out a price and bring it in and we'll match it'
I said funnily enough I have a price here, he looked at my printout and said 'no problem, we''ll sell it to you for £145'
he said this is always their policy
anyhow, you may not be getting the extra 10% of the difference that Jessops were offering (usually a couple of pounds extra off)
but you will be able to get last minute Xmas gifts from a local store at the best internet price you can find, should make things easier after Xmas for exchanges too, being able to return to a shop not a website.

Don't wish to pour cold water on your enthusiasm but Dixons/PC Woe really is a lousy company to deal with and is singularly the company most responsible (albeit in collusion with rest of the electronics cartel) for the inflated prices of such goods in UK.The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0

I had no idea that this was their policy. I know that that you can order from the PC World website and collect for the web price, but as for pricematching has anyone else managed to do this?If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0

Price Matching is a thinly failed con for the stores to check out their competitors prices. If you can get something cheaper else where, buy it there! Why get a price match?
hmm... intriguing.0 -
why get a price match - well as the OP said you can walk in and buy it today/tomorrow - not worry about paying delivery/not getting delivery for xmas
Also price match is good if the store you prefer does it - you obviously will prefer their customer service/returns policy0 -
I'll say thank you. I'd much rather go to a shop than buy online these days.0

I found this camera cheaper on several web sites, but pcworld have a list of sites that they will match. They would match dabs.com which got me about £50 off the camera.0

Will they price match post-purchase? I have looked on their website but cannot find their policy - are they one of the "find it cheaper elsewhere and we will refund the difference" retailers? Bought a present in a rush just before Christmas (as let down by an online retailer) and have paid completely over the odds but do not wish to get it back off the person to return it (looks tight rather than moneysaver and they have opened it!) - however, as I have the receipt could I still get a price match?
Many thanks
