shop assistants can either be fantastic or completely useless - sounds like the one you encountered was the latter - good luck at the shops:xmassmile

Indeed. In these situations I find an elderly lady and ask for advice. They are generally more than happy to help and know a thing or too!

That said the last time I did this I was looking for cream of tartare and no-one I spoke too knew what it was (shop assistants and other patrons alike). Thankfully I managed to find it on my own... Had no idea it was a powder, wonder what was going through the persons head who named it?
SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"

Ahh...Mrs_Pepperpot....would you be angling for an invite? :D

I have a new book entitled "Pie", thoughtfully supplied by Father Christmas (AKA Buff n Stab), which looks to be fantastic. It might be 2 courses - one savoury and one sweet. Whaddya reckon?

Now come on here!! There are those of us that have stayed in the background but definitely deserve an invite! I've watched you through thick and thin, it's payback!

PS I did think of a drill-bit when you needed a skewer!!!

  • That looks good enough to eat by itself!!!

I think following the successes with pastry... this could be a revelation. Be sure to advertise the date and time - I'll bring the popcorn!!!

(PS. I'm a huge fan of your work ;) )

Churchmouse, you most definitely deserve an invite. However, you live in London, not just round the corner like Mrs_Pepperpot. Makes it a bit tricky but I'm open to suggestions! :D

Oh dear. If you came for tea I'd have to cook, and clean the whole house.

I'll let you know when it's tidy. :D
