I always thought vermicelli was a sort of pasta (lit. little worms)? Is it the posh name for chocolate sprinkles? If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
sainsburys have rose water with the cake baking ingredients. Its clear and in a biggish bottle. My daughter makes turkish delight and says you really need more than the recipe says but that probably depends on the recipe. You can also use lemon juice to make lemon flavoured turkish D .To make it pink you need colouring of somesort as rosewater is colourless.0

Ta, I was thinking of halving the quantities in that recipe, as they say it makes 80 lumps. My Dad'd be happy, but I'm not sure Mum would thank me, IYKWIM. :rotfl:
 I could then halve it again and do ½ lemon and ½ rosewater.
I'm a bit concerned about the heating sugar thing....but I'll deal with that later...:whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

 No cake bits in this one. I kinda liked the sound of those. I was wondering if bashed up bourbon biscuits with the filling licked off would work?
Ok, I think this is going to turn into a "two sorts of truffle and turkish delight" thread.:j

Do you like marzipan? My friend makes some lovely sweets at Christmas, Dates stuffed with marzipan, and covered in chocolate. They are divine, and very easy.
Basically:
a bag of big fat Medjool Dates,
a block of marzipan,
a huge bar of Galaxy.
Slit dates, remove stone and replace with equivalent amount of marzy.
Melt Galaxy in a bowl, chuck in stuffed dates and cover with choccy, remove from bowl and place on greaseproof or parchment to set.
Store in airtight container for as long as you can keep your hands off them. (That's not long round here)Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
