I rang up one Sunday to see if I could register my interest, having heard at the start that there was a long waiting list, and they answered the phone before it even rang and set me up there and then, I had the modem three days later and was up and running within 9 days of the original call and have had absolutely no problems at all. I am on the mid package which gives me 40Gb a month download which must be enough for any normal person.
Tim.
There's always one! I did say that not everyone may have problems, just a high percentage. Judging from the link I provided there are a lot of very unhappy customers!0 -

Sky offer two types of broadband. The first is regular ADSL over BT copper (3 options, Base, Mid and Max ) and the second is their Sky Connect package, operated over Easynet's LLU kit.
To find out which flavours are available in your area, look up your local telephone exchange at http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php
If it's ADSL enabled you can get the first type, if it's got LLU and an Easynet presence you can get the second.0 -
But both are crap :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

This is the wrong way around - if you are connected to an Easynet enabled exchange, you get the choice of base, mid and max which are LLU products and very well priced.
If your exchange is not enabled for Easynet, you get the "Sky Connect" product which is more expensive as it uses BT's network.
I moved from IDNet to Sky Max despite the horror stories on the net and although the connection was a day late in being connected, it has been fine since and I get better speeds than previously. I know a couple of other people who have also switched without any problems.
Thanks

Doh! You're absolutely correct, of course. Posting while not paying attention, sorry all :embarasse0 -

I have just ordered Sky broadband on my main phoneline and should be up and running on it by the 20th of Jan. Went for the max package worth £10 as the kids all use the net like crazy for gaming and such.
Currently I have BT Broadband on my second line and the plan is to cancel it ASAP as soon as Sky runs smoothly. That would be a massive saving for me to get rid of BT Broadband and the phone line. We already have a wireless router however as the computer is downstairs but the main line upstairs I am thinking of buying a wireless adapter for the PC, then the router can stay upstairs without physically be attached to the PC?0 -
I know there are loads of people on here and on the net in general not happy with sky. I think the problem is if you have the bottom service it aint that good. but ive got the max option and apart from the first day it has been fine and is quick all the time. Was down for one day in october cos of a robbery in brum going through the phone line lol
they arent as bad as everyone says, and you will always get more people moaning than saying if they are happy with a product0 -
my service was activated on the 20th of december and since then i cannot fault it, im on 16mbit and its rock solid, it reminds me of my NTL service but without blooming proxies to spoil the web browsing!
go to http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php and type in your full phone number and postcode, it will tell you your distance from the exchange this is one of the major factors to affect quality of service.
its only a rough estimate in straight line distance, your actual line length may be longer!0
