Thanks for that, at least there is a freecycle group in Bristol so we'll all have to stick to that. Must sign up for it, still got that thing about yahoo groups ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

In Lincolnshire 'Freecyclers' seems to be growing better, its a forum based site.
I believe you can now set one up for your own area and not just around lincolnshire

I love free cycle, but am I the only one who gets a little frustrated with the wanted posts? eg wanted Car, any sports car would be great... ideally taxed mot'd and if you could pay the insurance for my 18year old son that would be great......
wanted motorbike,,,,,, wanted apple laptop, full working order would be great if you could deliver and set it up for me and give me full demo......
wanted greenhouse, if you dismantle it, deliver it and then erect it for me
etc etc etc
perhaps a little over exagerated but not much on the nottingham site0 -

Please note that the link quoted above is NOT Freecycle.org it is a completely different organisation with a dubious name regarding trademarks!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

I can't vouch for how good it is because I haven't used it but if you're in Bristol and green-minded they have some useful links.
I'm also going to point the people who want help with their clutter and hoarding in this direction. Some of us think it might help us part with our treasures if we knew they were going to a good home ...
EDIT! Bristol's 'Swap it' scheme may not be the same thing as freecycle, especially in that you can say you want to swap your item for something completely different, or for a donation to charity, but when I last looked there were quite a few 'free to good home' items there as well. But I think it's similar enough to count!
It was indeed a recycling site but absolutely nothing to do with freecycle. Freecycle Bristol is the correct Freecycle group for Bristol. If you find this group too large for your liking there are a few smaller groups in surrounding areas including northsomersetfreecycle listed under Somerset.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

After a while, posts go unmoderated from established members and if the group is large it may be the case that the moderator has not been able to read each individual post.Mods work on an entirely voluntary basis. Contact the mod of your group and tell them of these posts and the name of the member making the requests. Ridiculous requests are not encouraged.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
I am getting a bit tired of these Freecyclers, some of them are really rude!
I offered some old wood. A girl emailed me a few times saying she would really like it. Then in her last her email she said she can't collect as she is a poor student & doesn't have a car (she lives on the other side of London to me).
Also I offered 2 electric heaters. A guy emailed me, I mailed back asking when he was free to collect then 2 days later he sends me this:
I could have collected last night - despite the weather! - had you sent me your address! When are you next at home and WHAT IS YOUR ADDRESS or TEL. NO>???
How rude!0 -
I've found freecycle to be absolutely wonderful so far. We got two bicycles that needed a little work doing to them, the cost of the parts to fix them costed a lot less than buying brand new!
I've also managed to get rid of some clothes that are too big for me (I've been losing weight) and starting to de-clutter the flat, some to freecycle the rest to charity.Debt Free Wannabe :hello: LBM: 23/01/08

I'm finding increasingly rude replies like 'I'll av it deliver it to xxxx tonight will be in after 6' which was instantly deleted of course!
Also the requests, just today, gold saddle rings, mobile phones inc requests of must be new model with camera blue tooth etc, printer cartridges but must be new etc. People starting to take the **** in all honesty. Also hearing someone brag about how much they have made from items from freecycle. Think some people really do miss the point entirely. Oh yes we get the wanted shed, garage, green house etc with the must be delivered and erected, sorry I find that cheeky!
I've also started using a forum based one called https://www.dontdumpthat.com ones in many areas, haven't found people who use it as rude so far.One day I might be more organised...........
