whenever someone signs up for broadband it is the responsibilty of the sales person to ask if the customer has a bt line. now oviously to up his commision the sales person thought fit to skip the question.

However the OP has only just phoned up to sign up for the free BB, two months later!

which he has every right to do. He accepted the increase in monthly cost on the basis of getting free broadband at some point in the future of his choosing. The sales person had a resposibility to inform him that he needs a BT line in order to get free bb which he hasn't.

Not everyone is as clued up as you when it comes to things like broadband and luckily not everyone has your attitude

I think that you will find that most people are either a bit more clued up or do some research before deciding which provider to go with. Anyway as the broadband is free with your mobile contract, what are you moaning about?

If you spent more time reading the original post, and less time being such an obnoxious !!!!!!, you would have noticed that I do not have a BT line and can't have one. Its not free broadband if installation of a BT line costs £129. But you didn't read that did you. !!!!!!.

So do tell us, how did you expect this free broadband to be delivered to you?

The phone sales person helpfully pointed out that by paying an extra £5 per month, the OP would then be eligible for free BB. Nobody twisted their arm up their back to take it and there must be millions of Orange customers who pay £30 or more per month and don't take up the free limited to 2GB per month BB. It's simply an option which suits some customers but not all, including the OP.

ughh "espresso" perhaps you should stop posting useless information and comments for a while, as the OP does have a point, the complete legality of which, should be consulted with someone with knowledge of the law.

By the by, broadband is a term used to cover all major forms of "broadband" technologies which includes ADSL (i.e. ur BT line broadband), SDSL, satellite, radio waves (netvigator), cable etc of which clearly not all require a BT line. So to suggest that as you have, espresso, that the mere mention of the word broadband automatically means a phone line is required, is infact wrong. The sales person should have gone over the details of the broadband, its hardly on the same scale as a free pen now isit?

Thanks to all of you that provided constructive feedback. Those who can't be constructive shouldn't bother posting replies. As a newbie on the forum, I can't say I'll be rushing back to post again. There is enough stress to deal with day-to-day without letting yourself getting wound up by some idiot on a forum - a forum that I foolishly imagined was about 'us the consumer' against 'them the corporates' - and not 'us' b1tching amongst ourselves. That, I think, is a pity.
