Stuck in Orange tariff after being mis-sold broadband

I am feeling pretty annoyed with Orange right now, and need some advice. I took out a monthly contract with Orange 2 months ago. I was going to go for the Racoon 25 package (£25/month), but the sales guy pursuaded me to upgrade to Racoon 30 (£30/month), because on this tariff I would qualify for free Orange broadband. I fell for it and signed up for an 18 month contract. I have just phoned up Orange to arrange an installation of the Orange broadband and they have explained to me it is only available with a BT line - this wasn't mentioned to me in the shop. I don't and cannot have a BT line so I cannot have Orange broadband. Fine. However Orange have also just told me I cannot downgrade my tariff to Racoon 25 for another 8 months (the halfway point in my contract). So I am stuck on a tariff that is unsuitable and I don't have the broadband which was the basis of my choosing the tariff. Orange are saying they cannot change my tariff and it is the fault of the Orange shop, who they say are a 3rd party. That seems pretty odd to me! Anyway, I doubt very much I am going to get anywhere with the shop. What are my options? I doubt I am the only person who has gone for an Orange contract on the basis of the broadband, only to find out they are ineligible and stuck in a long contract. I am sure it will be in the T&C's but at the time I didn't see imagine I would need to downgrade so it wasn't an issue. Help!!

Ring them up and tell them this.
If they don't sort it out, ask to speak to a manager.0 -
Already done that I'm afraid. I spoke to a supervisor and was told there was absolutely no way they could reduce my tariff up to the half-way mark of the contract, ie 7 months time.0

jokes aside try and write the head office a letter and see what they say0 -
How did you expect the broadband to be delivered to your residence?
Try an e-mail to executive.office@orange.co.uk this sometimes gets things sorted.0 -

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but if I am correct you are suggesting that all broadband requires a BT line - this is not the case. Thanks for the email address, will give it a go.0 -
You are only ineligible, as you put it because you do not have a BT line. You were not miss-sold, the sales person cannot be held responsible for your ignorance! All broadband does require a BT line. Cable companies will only let you have their own broadband, with the possible exception of aol on NTL0 -

Pardon me my ignorance, oh master. But I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who have broadband via their cable company who also don't know that other forms of broadband need a BT line. That being the case, it seems a very important proviso when selling broadband to someone, as there must be millions of people who do not have a BT line.0 -

I think that you will find that most people are either a bit more clued up or do some research before deciding which provider to go with. whenever someone signs up for broadband it is the responsibilty of the sales person to ask if the customer has a bt line. now oviously to up his commision the sales person thought fit to skip the question.God made man, man made money, money made man mad0
