Esure Pulling Out From Bradford

Just been reading a Neighbouring City's local paper, The T&A Bradford.

One long term customer (Ex Traffic Policeman clean licence etc) has been informed that he cannot renew his policy after x amount of years.

And many others are also saying the same, That Esure have taken the descision to not generate any more new policies in the Bradford area.

Regardless of the person, Black or White, Green or Blue !! their age, Their postcode, Their number of NCD.

I am 10 miles down the road near Leeds, And my Insurance is high, But not at the level of Bradford.

I know that some people have seen an increase from 1,500 - 4,000 in just a year !!

Surely these companies cannot 'Simply' refuse everyone just because of their home city of Bradford??

It might as well be, esure admit raising the guy's premium from £250 to about £1,100.

Although it's worth noting that story is from July of last year.

This is the more recent story referred to by the OP:

It looks like it is true.
I've just tried esure for a quote giving exactly the same details as my current insurer has on record for me (apart from an address in BD2 1NH).

I'm currently driving a 2010 1.6 Focus (so hardly a high performance, high risk car), 25 years driving without an accident and no convictions.
My current premium is £233 per year.
    What did esure quote?
    Unable To Quote

Unfortunately, esure car insurance is unable to provide a quote based on the information you have provided.

Maybe Esure don't hold out any great hope that the "continuous insurance" will actually work on uninsured drivers then, or else their timing is really poor.

The clever "folk" of Bradford found a way around the "cameras" a long time ago they just drive on someone else's copied plates. They also got round the number plate making restrictions long ago, they just "buy" a whole new identity for the car every few months
As long as the car does not ping the ANPR they are free to drive all day long, unregistered, untaxed and uninsured.
If they bump the car and it can not be driven away, one phone call soon has a few dozen supporters on scene and the driver vanishes.
All these silly laws do is punish people who slip up whilst trying to obey them, your average offender is a bit smarter than that.

It is true - the esure spokesman in the newer story is quite clear.

No new quotes in BD2 and BD3 because of fake injury claims.

I read that but as we all know, what someone says or does and what actually appears in the newspapers are often two entirely different things, so I thought that I would try it myself.

They can be, but don't try to outsmart yourself.

The Telegraph and Argus is an established newspaper, so you can be fairly sure the esure spokesman has been quoted accurately.

It is obviously a sensitive topic in Bradford, so the esure statement will almost certainly have been given in writing to protect both parties.

That only leaves the possibility the esure spokesman is telling porkies, but given the content of the statement, I think that's unlikely.

An Insurer will often offer a high premium for a risk they don't want rather than give a "No Quote." More often than not it's given to new teenage drivers - your quote Sir is £32,000, but for the guy in the article quadrupling their premiums is effectively the same thing.
