Right will put Chiswick on the list. thanks Kirri xx... didn't know Planet Organic had a store in Tottenham Ct Rd .. as I got cassoulet specially from French Click for OH maybe I can do a list and make him do a detour. He has to go to W1 next week to meet daughter.. seems like a plan ;) I think Whole Foods Kensington is the biggest yes but there is one in W1 (Glasshouse St) as well.

From what I've read about pricing of organic food, producers generally get well above average price anyway Quintwins and it certainly seems like supermarkets charge what they think the consumers will pay. Abel and Cole sells free range organic chicken carcasses with neck and giblets for 1.99, Sainsbury's charges £4 for 4 chicken drumsticks/thighs and Waitrose 1.97 for 4 chicken wings. Don't buy breasts but if you added up breasts, drumsticks and wings plus carcass it might well be considerably less than supermarkets charge for a whole chicken !

Maybe I should buy assorted pieces and stitch em together for a roast organic frankenchicken ;)

Edwardia, I call it Tott Ct Rod but it's just up from there, not far, just across from Goodge St tube on a side road. Didn't know there was a Wholefoods in W1, shall investigate next time I'm up there, thanks.

Have just been checking out Abel & Cole, quite impressive pricing! I used to get boxes years ago before I grew stuff but they never stocked such a wide range of other goods back then.
  • Quintwins, not as far as I know, its just I estimate, my freezer will empty by that time, whatever I buy will last until I do a Christmas shop.

Discovered you can make clotted cream in the slow cooker, so have taken a pot of double cream from the freezer, will pop in sc before I head out tomorrow, I wonder if i can freeze the clotted cream after.

Off to eat chilli, have taken out 2 Mr w haddock fillets, will have the last of the chilli tomorrow.

Darn now wishing I hadn't given slow cooker away ms_night_ryder as Rodda clotted cream is 1.97 for a teeny tub :( Must add clotted cream to Christmas list..

Kirri.. yes there's a good range of stuff at A&C but usually I can get veg cheaper except for things like spaghetti squash. The mayo is great, the yogurt and butter cheaper than supermarkets, milk abt the same, the mature Cheddar is cheaper than Cathedral City and OH lurves the bread and cakes. I love the bones for stock and was impressed by price of whole partridge and wild venison shanks at under £4.

I have diabetes and buying organic helps my health improve, I've had the blood test results Feb pre organic and by May (went organic March) they had really improved. However I reckon if I'd just cut out additives that might have worked also.
  • Edwardia I knoww, clotted cream is expensive, £1.89 in waitrose for the rodda one, in sainsburys its £1.99 I was shocked, that's when it could It clicked for me that Mr s really.isn't cheaper, even their whoopsies lol.

MNR - Didn't know you could do clotted cream in a slow cooker!
If buying, Morrisons started doing a half size pot earlier this year.

The Ecover prices on A&C were also the same as the supermarkets on a couple of things I buy. I need some mayo, usually get the garlic Simply Delicious one in Waitrose. I like the look of the extra choices on sites like A&C that I can't find on the high st.

Fascinating to hear your health had improved on the organic - conventional food can have so many additives and preservatives in it's shocking. Have you gone organic on cosmetics and toiletries too?
  • Zafiro - thanks for the information about the eggs - You aren't anywhere near Merseyside are you??

Edwardia -when you say bias towards white do you mean that you get lots of white eggs in the box? I much prefer white eggs (no reason I'm just odd like that...) but I cannot get them anywhere round here at all. The best eggs I've had for ages were the Asda tickled pink free range eggs - they were really fresh and tasted lovely.

Made a roast dinner tonight with the chicken I bought yesterday - there is loads left so will use that up tomorrow when my sister comes for tea - I will probably make chicken fried rice because I have all of the ingredients to make it and won't need to go shopping, as I am in work tomorrow. I used the McCains frozen roast potatoes and DD said that she didn't like them, but I thought they were alright.

Went and got a load more of the enrituals laundry liquid today, and got some more Green's Cheesecake mixes.

    Morning All ! xxx

Jane - no sorry, I meant lots of white in the egg and not much yolk. :(

My washing soda didn't turn up yesterday. :(

We had a vegetarian dinner to use up some veg - fennel, spring onions, aubergine, tomatoes, celery, leek, courgette, red and yellow peppers - sauteed, layered up, lots of grated Cheddar on top, sprinkling of Parmesan over that and decorated with tinned Spanish white asparagus spears - last of my one and only order from Approved Foods- asparagus brushed with EV olive oil and bunged in oven till golden n bubbling. Rather good if I say so myself.

Off to Sainsbos catch y'all later xx

    I've been Money Tipped!
Morning all, a wee bit colder today, but not raining ............ we had that yesterday!!!!
    No further shopping yesterday.

Toast for myself again, hubby is having a very large bacon and eggs sandwich for breakfast.

Main meal - Lidl Chicken Kievs, may as well try them in case it's worth maxing the next time.
Also making a pear crumble with Tesco 15p pear quarters - cheap day. lol
When in Tesco Yesterday, the large store was selling the quarters @ 61p per tin still. 15p per tin was/is a steal.

Taking hubby for a free pint today and that'll offset my coffee. Checking the Ember Inns menu and may go there on Saturday for lunch and hubby can have "my" free pint!!!
I posted the free pint of cask ale link HERE , great bargain if you have a participating Ember Inns near you.

ms_night_ryder - looking forward to your clotted cream "experiment" - wouldn't mind trying that with some "whoopsied" cream.
Did you get the 50p Kit Kat coupon?? £1 per pack in Asda, so 50p with coupon for 8 x 2 finger bars.
    Kit Kat post HERE

Donating to the foodbank later, so that'll clear some space.
