Afternoon.. had brunch of two free range eggs, pile of mushrooms, a slice of Polish ham, a whole Mozzarella sliced up.. I was experimenting with cooking fats so used my big heavy cast iron Le Creuset and cooked different things in different fats - used goose fat, ghee, Czech butter and EV olive oil. The olive oil has the strongest taste, to my surprise.

Off to the docs this afternoon and may nip into Morrisons to look for lard and dripping - depends if it rains !
  • Good afternoon all, weather vile here too! Just took rubbish out and posted some letters inbetween rain showers!

Breakfast was last of some waffles, and I caramlised a sliced apple. Not sure still counts as 5 a day haha!

Lunch I made pork meatballs, from mince I bought on offer and froze, along with half a packet of ainsley's morroccan couscous. Remainders will do nicely for tomorrows lunch :)

Dinner will be bought out..off to see Wicked tonight with a girlfriend, though will be somewhere cheap I.e. a boots meal deal whilst hiding from the rain as both of us skint!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:

well today I've had a friend over so had defrosted some hm scones, then for lunch we had a pizza out of the freezer, tonight we are having salmon (already defrosted), and I have taken out bacon for breakfast and some steak for tomorrows tea - why doesn't the space seem to be getting any bigger? One of life's great mysteries............. hope its not all being replaced by frost!!!
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

Just finished my meal plan for this week from the freezer. Still haven't properly done the inventory of stocks. I keep putting it off and making excuses. :o

May will definitely be a 'make do and mend' month for me. We're going away to the coast at the end of June and I'm wanting to save a bit up for that as I'm planning to eat out rather than cook while there. Never done that before as pennies didn't allow before so I am really looking forward to it. :j

I've already started repairing some clothes this week and feeling all self-righteous about it. :p

Steak was taken out as a treat for lunch and hubby treating us to a takeaway tonight after shopping.

Trying to work out whether the Lidls chicken fillets deal @£1.34 for 375g is a better deal than buying the MrT value fillets 1kg @ 3.99. If I buy 3 lots it works out at £3.16 per kg with the price cut voucher.
Brains going dead working out the equiv in Lidls. Fresh v frozen but also whole v pieces. Whole more versatile.
    Decisions, decisions. :)

our Lidl deal is pork shanks. Got a pack already and loads of lamb ones so won't be getting these. Love kabanossi though. And cucumber means more greek salads so NOM NOM!

Tonight dug out 9 mini pizzas for the kids and topped them with salami - they have eaten these followed by a bowl of spaghetti hoops each.

We are having thai red curry - hubby found a decent portion we had made and frozen so having a couple of snacks with it (frozen naturally) and naan and a spoonful of rice. Might even have a couple of the poppadums we got from approved foods (chilli and coriander - they are gorgeous!). Sounds like a right feast!

Tomorrow we are digging out chinese from the freezer along with snacks from the big asda boxes after christmas so another freezer fest (feast!). Not sure about the boys yet tomorrow but possibly chicken mayo burgers (frozen stuff again) and wedges / salad - methinks they will approve.

Then Sunday - well maybe a pie or lidl lamb shanks for us and salmon lasagne for the boys as got some in the freezer and taking them swimming in the afternoon (last half price voucher chance) so not doing a roast this week.

Going to try and plan next weeks menu if we can so we can get prepared with the freezer dig process.... lol! I am not a big one for planning as I tend to like to decide depending on my mood but going to have to really to make indents :(.

Not planning any freezer shopping but will have a little spend this weekend with milk and lidl deals.
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

we have had a lovely day today warm and sunny. sooo different from yesterday when it rained all day:(

my freezer drawers are so easy to open compared with last week when I had to force them shut. this week all our meals have been out of the freezer apart from Monday which was leftover chicken from Sunday.
    Tuesday - salmon
    Wednesday sausages
    Thursday mince
    Friday pork chops

our Lid* meat is diced chicken which we have loads of in the freezer so nothing from lid* to fill the freezer this week end.

  • no fees in the bank today - I was hopeful that they might go in this afternoon but no..... enforced no spend weekend then! DD1 got paid today and she earns good money and she hasn't offered anything, even though she knows we don't have much milk left or anything. She doesn't pay keep and I have just asked her to go to Aldi and get some milk and squash and you should have seen her face! it really gets me down sometimes....

Did barbecue chicken for tea, with savoury rice and kids got into a HUGE row over who had the biggest portion. Drove me nuts!

Just made a big pasta bake for tomorrow and there is a loaf in the breadmaker. We only have flora light spread in the fridge, which I don't mind, but they hate and the way I feel at the moment I wouldn't buy anything else if I had been paid!!

Still got some of todays chicken bacon and avocado (lunches) so that will do for DD1 for lunch tomorrow.

I get paid from my other job on Monday (salary) so I will go to Aldi and get some super six and other basics and that will do until my fees arrive. I use my other job money to pay the mortgage and other regular bills and my fees for housekeeping and other stuff.

Can I ask - why does she not pay keep? Tell me to mind my own business if you like.
