Lol I would be much the same ^VfM4meplse wrote: »I think most of us can understand why, but if it's any consolatiion, if it's straightforward and all goes well you shouldn't have to stay in for more than a couple of nights. Sometimes we've just got to grin and bear it, remember that surgery can be a very effective intervention.
I am gradually emptying out containers and am creating a list that I am pinning to the fridge with a magnet of all the things I need to replace when the time comes. So far it's:
- gram flour
- milk powder
- fine semolina
- vanilla pods - I dried out the last one I used and stuck it in my last bag of sugar.
I hope so, I just need an answer really as to what is wrong but they have said I may not even get that, it wouldn't be so bad if I was going in for a specific reason but it's more a) I don't know what they will do and b) what might they find as well as the will it go ok and will I get out alive!!
^ I like the idea of emptying all the containers and doing a list - am doing something similar, it's hard at first getting used to running out of something but there are plenty (too much) other things here to eat instead. I look forward to having just a few things in the cupboard in future not stocking up like I used to as I only end up eating things that are old/out of date by buying too much.0 -
Kirri - yes, only dabbling with being a "veggie" and only part-time. Don't really want to start making lots of meals from screatch as there are only the 2 of us. More along the lines of making a meal and that's it........done and dusted. Looking for some veggie sausages and Asda have the Linda Mc ones for £1, great for a veggie brunch - a simple meal. Son prefers the Cauldron ones, but they are way OTT and meat sausages are much, much cheaper on offer and even cheaper when "whoopsied". The Tesco cheese and leek sausages were nice and on offer at 2 packs for £2 - so doable, but still expensive for 4 saugages (£1)!! I'll try these 2 packs of Quorn first before speculating on more, though will look for the offers...............naturally.
quintwins - enjoy Mickey, must be one of the best characters ever. BTW, is that freezer empty??

^ the best sausages I've found are the Quorn frozen bags, you get quite a few but £2 ish full price but great value on offer. I do buy the Linda M ones when on offer but nowhere near as nice but good value as they are nearly always on offer. Farmfoods occasionally have this type of food cheaper too but the prices have really gone up in there lately and I don't like the shop personally!! I wouldn't buy anything else in there.0

Hi Lynsey, have you tried the veggie mixes? Years ago before quorn etc were available, my then boyfriend was vegan and he used to love Beanfeast, basically a packet of veggie mince mix, they come in chilli, bolognese and plain I think (good for making a cottage pie). We used to bulk them out with veg & beans and they were very tasty, especially the chilli on top of a jacket potato etc. I also seem to remember that Asda did their own range of veggie sausage and burger mixes for about 50p each, you just add the contents of the packet and some water to a bowl, mix it up, leave to chill for a while and then form into the shape/size you want and cook.
Just did a quick search and they still sell them, from memory the chargrill burgers are very nice.

If you sort the prices low-high, the mixes come up first from 65p for savoury mince, worth a look.0

Am I the only one that can't tolerate quorn? It tastes ok, but makes me so violently sick for hours afterwards..........._pale_:(
Did anyone else see The Apprentice this week? It made me want to demolish a cheeseboard with crackers and relish! Used the storecupboard solution instead - sesame breadsticks and h/m hummus as a late evening snack. Going to stick relish on the list too...
Am eating 3 meals out this weekend so feel like I am cheating a bit now!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I know I shouldn't have, but I popped out for bargains and had a little success in Sainsbury's.
1 mini lean beef joint (small) - reduced from £5.35 to 99p.
1 rump steak - reduced from £3.70 to 99p.
1 Warbarton small crusty loaf - reduced from 85p to 10p.
£2.08 well spent there.
I tried Morries, thought I was on a roll and cr4p!!!
Bread hardly reduced and no pies/pasties reduced!!! Nothing at all like a Saturday and no more Morries bargain hunting, unless it's a Saturday. lol
Did buy some Nescafe 150g refills (half-price) @ £1.79 each - £3.58 spent. I going to pick up a couple of Nescafe refills each week until the half-price offer ends, build up stock.
So another £5.66 spent and it's totting up!!!
I must try and stop buying meat for the freezers, I don't need any, I don't need any for months!!!
The problems seems I have a bigger budget now so can buy more that's not needed, it will eventually get used I suppose, but not for weeks.
No more meat now during April UNLESS it's 99p or less, or chicken from Lidl's half-price weekends (pretty rare).
I promise, I promise, I promise.
Froze 8 slices of bread for future toast and the rest for the birds.
Stir fry was lovely with garlic prawns and juice drizzled over.
*** Hope the Quorn is ok, never thought of any problems!!

lol lynsey you did well and it was under 99p
well we had a great day but i forgot hubby was away seeing the plumber so chicken has went in teh fridge (to go into cheese sauce with mushrooms, leeks and red onions tomorrows as it was really yummy a few days ago) instead we're having the rest of teh yummy burgers and hm chips, but in order for that to happen i needed new oil for my chip pan so off to tesco's i went and got...
3litres of oil
8 x4 packs of beans
8x 50 packs of sausage rolls
5 boxes of cereal (all ours had went abit soggy so the kids picked a box each)
2 loaves of bread
a packet of huge bakery pancakes (kids call these the face pancakes cause there bigger than there faces so i make faces on them with fruit and jam they love it)
all for £23
also went to the farm shop for spuds, as i was walking in i saw 10kg bags of roosters for £1.75 so i shouted hubby to put 2 in teh car cause there cheaper than our usual pipers, but when i got inside they had pipers down to £3 for a 20kg which is the cheapest they've ever been, i don't mind that we paid slightly more tho as i love pretty much all pinksDEC GC £463.67/£450
