  • Hi, I am all up for this challenge as desperately need space in my kitchen cupboards. In addition, we are going to US of A in April next year and I want to leave my fridge and freezer switched off while we we are away so need to finish everything that's there

For the next three months, I will only be shopping for fresh fruit/veg and milk as I have everything else.

    Hi,

I have been using up some more storecupboard and fridge/freezer items. These were brussel sprouts from the freezer, by creating Christmas edible gifts and providing Christmassy snacks for a visitor.
  • Hope everyone had a happy Christmas...:D

Got back from mum and dad's yesterday and she sent me with the remnants of the turkey crown - I say remnants but there's enough for 2 curries and a pie at least - Lord knows why the heck she buys one so big - I'm sure there are smaller versions but hey ho!! 3 meals for us.

She also sent me with 2 packs of bacon and 2 wedges of Stilton. They had already come out of the freezer so they went straight in - after a shuffle about but I have NO WAY of getting the turkey in there just yet - need a major overhaul in there

  • On another note (and I'm not sure if I've already posted this on here) but I had such a rubbish beginning to December with issues with my job that we ate out at least 3 times a week so all the food I bought and put in the freezer from November's pay is still pretty much in there...so no need to buy anything for the first couple of weeks....sausages, mince, braising steak, chicken and pork chops all in there...really MUST do a meal plan

But the good news is that I have a new job that I start on 3rd Jan with slightly different hours so really need to be organised....will have to make that one of my New Year's resolutions!! :rotfl:

    I've been Money Tipped!
Anyone getting nervous about the "Annual Grocery Challenge"?? :D
Cut right back on the Xmas spending (food) this year and still got far too much!! Loads of stuff crammed in cupboards and waiting to be used up.
Not done much spending on food since Xmas eve, well less than £5 on a few reduced items and may need milk etc. before the New Year.

  • Hey all, took mini chicken fillets out of freezer to make enchillads from dinner kit, but could not be asked with all faffing, chopping onions peppers etc, frying off, grating, rolling etc'.

so I was going to fry off fillets for enchiladas to be cooked tom, changed. My mind and decided to fry of chicken, bung some mixed veg and rice in steamer and go back to bed, so had a very simple meal of chciken, rice and veg.

doubt I will make much headway with really full freezer, as I got sliced cooked lamb a whole small cooked ham to use up plus chicken made today, breakfast was just picking at stuff.

gonna try and start the ham., I am also going to slice some and put in the freezer and use up have a free hovis bloomer, that needs putting in the ocven, had to take it out the freezer to make way for whoopsies lol

Lynsey - I've cut my annual budget into quarters to see if that makes it less daunting!! I will be starting on Friday as that will be my pay to see me through january. I am do a mini shop for essentials today - about £20 and then the fun begins!

I've been away all christmas so have not used any food in our stocks. There is alot! So just bread, and some lunch meat, eggs and milk needed today. Also any veg and fruit offers.
