That sounds really nice!
Would have gone well with my salty mushroom too0 -
Omg kirri, the mushroom sounds horrendous.
Yesterday I ate a waitrose cheese pizza, the last skinless Richmond sausage and sweetcorn, for lunch was salad with 3 of the sausages, breakfast was melon.
Today was melon breakfast, junk for lunch and a salad for dinner using up the last carrot, it was getting bendy.
Need to use up the beef stew I made an the last mackerel filet. Tomorrow.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

It was the most unlikeable thing I've eaten this year :rotfl:
^ I tried melon again last week, I really can't get the appeal (pets like it though). Also tried apricots and plums last week and didn't like them either.. (still sat in fridge but will probably compost..).0 -
Hope you have recovered from your unlikeable meal Kirri, well done for trying though!! This morning I have taken out of my freezer: a brisket of beef, a whole chicken and some nectarines which I had softened, so will make a crumble with those later. Hope you all have a lovely weekend.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Nothing out of freezer yet again.
Breakfast - free cereal, banana, orange juice
Lunch - puy lentils, made a dressing, lots of fresh mint and griddled HG veg of 2 courgettes, spring onions, green pepper
Dinner - probably pesto pasta with more griddled veg
Tempted to make a cake but all my kitchen equipment is packed up so will probably be more trouble than it's worth.0 -

Oooh, I love melon:) And apricots too, particularly in Moroccan-style savoury dishes.
What about juicing all the fruit together, and see what that's like? Or (from my juicing recipes...love the names)
Purple Heart - 2 beetrot, 1/2 melon, 2 plums
Apple & Plum - 5 plums, 2 red apples
Red Wire - 100g red grapes, 2 beetroot, 2 plums
Panic Attack - 2 apples, 3 apricots, 1 peach
Plum, Apple & Fig - ("almost a pudding it's so rich and thick") 2 plums, 1 apple, 2-3 figs
Also, plums "highly antioxidant, along with its iron content, makes it very useful for protecting overall health, avoiding anaemia, and improving digestion".'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Didn't think of the apricots in Moroccan cooking, how dim of me, given I've a shelf full of Moroccan/Middle Eastern books and a tagine!!
Oh and I also realised the tahini dressing recipe you posted, I have in that book sat on my shelf, I'd never noticed that particular recipemy tahini has separated but if it's ok I will try it.
I put the plum in the bin, was squishy, then feeling guilty, got it back out (was only in veg waste), washed it and thought maybe an individual plum and apricot crumble... didn't know about the iron content, that's quite useful to know as a veggie.
I thought the melon tasted a bit flowery.. I don't have a juicer but have put melon in a blender before (to syringe feed pets when ill) but not sure how well anything else would 'juice' in a blender :huh:0 -
Not ventured in to freezer yet.
I am making TITH tonight for dinner but not using sausages. I have a started black pudding in the fridge so will use that with roast potatoes + veggies.
Today was weight day - MR F has lost 4 lbs plus I have lost 2 lbs. I am not on a diet but have lost 1 stone + this year - think I need to visit Doctor.
Here is the cake I baked last night - made buttercream for the topping. I made the amount of buttercream recommended for 8inch cakes but there was far too much. I have put the LO buttercream in fridge.
Experimental cake recipe from a US site. I cooked for the stated time plus tested it was cooked with a skewer. Should be baked in an eight inch square pan but I don't have one. It is meant to be a very moist cake.
We tried a slice - eaten with cake fork - is yummy but not what I call cake texture.
Could have eaten it with custard if I hadn't topped with the buttercream.
So result - not what I expected but won't be wasted.
I will have another go at this recipe. Ingredients list - nothing like I have tried before - called Crazy/Wacky Cake.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
