Sat in bed with the laptop.......... and a mug of tea............ says it all really!!

Got to bed earlier last night, but read until late.......... woke up before the alarm which is an improvement though.

Very baby steps indeed I'm afraid.

I have to get up at half past six so I can't stay up past 11pm (or if I do I'm a really grumpy flylady the next morning). I'm still managing the bed, the paperwork and the sink but my family came down to stay and my sister put me to shame by wiping down all the worksurfaces straight after the meal :-(.

I have been teying my hardest to keep on top of things since the new year. I now try my best to wash up all the days dishes in the evening leaving the kitchen nice and clear for the morning. Deal with paper as I open it, filing, shredding etc. Plan what I am going to have for my main meal the night before so I can take something out of the freezer in time and dont end up with rice kriispies!! I am working my way through the freezer and cupboards using up all the odds and ends and just buying fresh stuff from Tesco's instead of doing a whole shop putting it away and finding I already had half the stuff I bought. My new white board in the kitchen helps....as I finish something I write it down....if its not on the list I dont buy it.
Today I sorted out the mess that was my linen cupboard.........got rid of the old stuff and anything I really dont use.
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

Whilst I was cleaning the sink, I came up with a good method of tackling areas that need doing: divide the room's into squares. Small squares about 3' square. And don't do anything else until that square is tidy/clean/organised or whatever the problem is. Once it's done (and it may take a few days, doing 15-30 mins at a time) it MUST be maintained.

    What do you think?

my friend who lives in chaos and has 4 kids, 2 cats and far far too much stiff was saying she is starting to tackle a corner at a time, so similar thing!

  • Toxic Lemon,

I too had a cleaner for a while, but said goodbye to her for exactly the same reasons... she started off well, but the time came when I couldn't really see what difference she was making, and she wasn't pulling the furniture out to hoover behind/underneath, plus the dusting was getting very much missed.

In the time since she hasn't been here, I really haven't missed her all that much. Except that I always made sure the house was reasonably tidy before she came!! But now I keep it tidy most of the time... just the perpetual pile of paperwork to see to..... STILL haven't quite got round to it. Grrrrr.

    maybe this weekend....
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

By the sounds of it a cleaner isn't worth the money on a weekly basis - I'd rather spend £22 a week on a horse-riding lesson than £24 on a cleaner. Can you get them in maybe twice a year to do a big spring clean? A bit unfair I know but I never seem to have the time to get around to it. Still managing the paperwork and bed and empty sink (most days anyway).
