Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning All
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, I'm off to work in a sec taking leftovers for my lunch & to put in the Staffroom.
I'll post more pics on my blog as soon as I get sent them.
Have a good day everybody.
Hugs Hester

Woohoo one of the 1st this morning, now that is rare;)
Morning HH and all who cross and follow.
Sun is up and a blue sky ,temp should be around 21 here today so will cut grass this afternoon .Have got my bedding already on the line as was woken up by the sun streaming through the bedroom window where there was a little gap in the curtains.Come downstairs to find woofer upside down snoring on the settee:mad: he knows he's not allowed.
Have made batter up for American pancakes for the kids for breakkie will wake them around 7.30. It feels really strange only having to get 2 up now as others have all finished there exams apart from ds2 has 1 more to go.
Am going to rope them into stripping the kitchen with me today as am sick and tired of it now, it needs a fresh injection of colour.
Not much else going on today
Have no idea what is for dinner tonight possibly a cheeky take away as the kitchen may be upside down preparing it for decorating;)
Have a lovely day all and enjoy the sun if you have it:)

Hester forgot to say hope you had a lovely day on Sat

Morning everyone - and the sun is shining here though it may well rain later.

Been up since 5.30a.m. again, love the summer mornings, and have done so much work that I can feel smug. ;)

Breakfast was yoghurt and blueberries again. Lunch will be chorizo strips with cream cheese filling (easy to take to work) and evening meal will be liver from the freezer. We had some last night too, stir fried some frozen sprouts, left over asparagus and some pointed cabbage. Added strips of liver, some chilli flakes and then added some sour cream which was lurking in the fridge. Very tasty it was too though not sure that OH was having such a good time.

Off to work shortly, got piles to do as I had a creative outbreak on Saturday and wrote loads of notes of 'actions' which I need to get down as a proper plan otherwise I'll forget. Then will visit some friends for a quick catch up.

Tomorrow I go away again until Thursday/Friday so need to sort out my case. As I go away so often there's always toiletry stuff in my bag and spare chargers etc, so it's just a matter of clothes planning.

I hope everyone has a good day and I look forward to reading it all.

Morning all. still yawning here, but the boys have been up and watching Mamma Mia since goodness knows, but the credits are rolling now. As ever I have a million and one things to do - its the start of another week! Plan to clear through the house today and do all the ironing. Hope to get outside to clear up - and when we have the next spell of dry weather I MUST treat the fence between us and next door. Oh for just another hour in bed to wake up properly!

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee take me away!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Good Morning everyone ,weather looking a bit doubtful at the moment I'm glad I got all the washing and ironing done out of the way yesterday.School run with the boys this morning then home to rummage for an inside handle for my sitting room door .The round bit if the brass handle just sheared of in my hand for some reason.I know I have a set of handles I took off my old front door somewhere so I will try to did them out and replace the sitting room handles with one of them.If not then on wednesday (which is wrinkly day at B&Qs 10% off :)) then I'll have to buy some more but if I can find an alternative then I will. Its only a door handle so I'm not that fussed to be honest. Then a bit of knitting whilst I watch Scot and Bailey which I missed last night (her ex boyfriend is a real nasty piece of work )Oh I do lead an exciting life at times :) only 55 more days till our holiday, starting a countdown now.NSD at all this week more than enough food in the stores to keep me going.Have a great day everyone and I look forward to seeing the photos HH
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning all,

It is a beautiful day, washing is on the line and DD2 is cross as she has to go to school! DS and DD1 have a training day off as they are at secondary school, DD2 is still at the juniors.

Hester, so glad that Saturday went well for you.

I have work today and then the usual ferrying the children everywhere all evening.
OH usually does his fair share but his legs are feeling more that a little sore after his bike ride yesterday so I think I will let him off today:D

Tea tonight is chilli made with the left over chicken from yesterday.

    Have lovely days everyone.:)

    Good morning Everyone!
HH - saw your dress yesterday. It looks great - can't wait to see the pics with you wearing it!
uolypool - good luck with your kitchen redecoration.
We had an early alarm as DH has caught train to London en-route to the charity office in the west countryfor a meeting this afternoon. All washing which had to be rushed indoors yesterday afternoon is already out and the DW is humming away. need to get the breadmaker on soon. I find it all breaks up when I slice it unless I leave it 24 hours first. Feeling energetic this morning so have loads of sorting and cleaning planned, but intend visiting Curves first thing. Just hope that doesn't sap all the energy before the work gets done!
Have decided to draw out cash for housekeeping this week - hopefully I'll be more aware of spending it than just reaching for the card. (I'm not too bad, but every so often it's good to really focus on these things!)
We need a new bathroom radiator - it's been there more than 28years and is looking very rusty. Will call the friendly local plumbing firm later. Need to pack up DH's laptop for collection tomorrow - dropped a camera on the closed lid on Friday, and the screen is obviously damaged. TG I took out insurance for once!
Anyhow, better get moving now. Hope you all have a good day. ((HUGS)) to all who need one. Take care!

    Think twice before spending anything!

    Morning all!

Work again! Weekends are't long enough i tell ya! OH's brother has gone this morning, not sure if i've posted it here before but he's got this knack of getting himself into spots of bother with the law, so he's off to the cop shop to sort some bits out, not sure if he will be returning tonight or not, but will keep his room ready for him in case he does (or can more importantly)

Lunch today is HM soup and dinner is thai chicken curry.

Will be getting into work early today so fill in my overtime as i never remember to do it! Will also send off my tax rebate today.

OH is working and has 2 private jobs to fit in at some point which is great.

    Have a lovely day all

    Good Morning.
Sunny here at the moment but it is supposed to rain later.
Feeling really down today as I have just had two falls in the matter of minutes. I was pottering around my vegetables and dropped my cauliflower plug plants:( Managed to rescue them but not sure if they will survive. Then I slipped on water that had spilt from the tomatoes and having zero balance ended up on the floor. Anyway onwards and upwards and will try to remain upright. Also my cleaner is on holiday (again). Much as I like her and she does a good job i am finding it harder to cope when she is not here. I also cant really ask my kids at the moment as three have exams. I need to look at other options I think.....

Sorry I sound down in the dumps:( Im sure it will get better as the day goes on.
    Hugs xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Good Morning All,

Didn't manage to read or post yesterday but it sounds like things went well Hester, can't wait to see the pics

The party went well on Saturday and the rain stayed away until about 11.30pm. DH made a lovely speech for the newly engaged couple and welcomed our DIL to be. It brought a tear to my eye.
I allowed youngest DS to bring his friend and unfortunately she was just as I expected. When my eldest DD opened the door to her she though someone had booked a stripper:eek:. She is totally unsuitable for him and far too old. We had a long talk yesterday amid the clear up and he agrees, said he was mortified at the party and wont be seeing her again. Thank goodness.
Our 4th grandson was born yesterday, Charlie weighed in at 8lb 15oz so he was a whopper and we will get to visit tonight, can't wait:D
Today will be washing, shopping, post office and library. Have a good day whatever your up to J x

    Morning all

Cold and grey here. Off to bed in a mo, not a bad night but so cold, I have to wear loads of layers under my uniform and thick tights. Only two more nights to go then I have a couple of days off. DS is at his Dad's which is great and means less juggling for me.

OS wise, supper at work will be leftovers, possibly in a nice pasta salad. Will see what I fancy when I get up.

JULIE67 congratulations on the birth of your Grandson!

Have a good day all and hugs to anyone who needs one.
